My den and 3 floor to ceiling book shelves say i keep my beloved books. I re-read my books every single time i find favorites. I read about 1 300-500 page book every 4 days or so. Insomnia loves books my friends. ?

I don’t really have the room for them so I try not to hold on to a book unless I’m obsessed with it or think it’s super meaningful

For me it depends on how much I liked or disliked the book. The books I really like I keep. If it just good I pass it on to a friend. The ones I don’t care for I donate to libraries or jails

I usually keep them cause I flip through them later. Then every few years I do a huge book shelf sort and get rid of a ton. It’s always really sad but I can’t justify horsing books I haven’t read since high school

I have several shelves of non-fiction books that I have horsed for years, never having flipped through them. Fiction, for the most part, goes out the door as soon as I have a stack about 3 feet tall, every 6 months or so (doesn’t include the ones I borrowed from the library or from friends), taken to Half Price Books to get a little of my money back.

I don’t make friends with my books! After reading a book, it goes to the shelf as part of the library!

I borrow most of the books I read from the library. I keep a few of the physical books I own, but most are donated or traded when I’m done with them.

i also borrow most books from the library too Juli, there is an awesome book website called Fantastic fiction, i check them out to see what they are about, if i like the looks of them, i look up the library website to see if they have it..if you can borrow it, why buy it.

Give them away. I have so many I bought to read later if I kept the ones I’ve read I’d really be a hoarder?

I keep the ones I really liked, but I give most of them away. I’ve never had the time to make the sell back thing work for me so I just don’t bother with that.

I keep the ones I like that I know I’ll reread. The ones I don’t, I put in a pile to trade at a local used bookstore I go to quite a bit.

I used to keep them all. But as I’m older, I keep my favorites that I will reread or use as reference books. I also keep signed copies or ones that belonged to my mom. I also keep favorite authors . I still keep most, I guess. Lol. I do give away some

I can’t afford to buy every book I read so most of them get returned to the library. I give away almost all of the rest & only keep about 20-30 really special books. Every year at Christmas, I buy myself a copy of my favorite library book I read that year.

if it is a very good one I keep or try and get the hardback version, if not I either do swaps, or take down to a charity shop

Depends on the book. If its one that has impacted me greatly, I usually keep it to reread another time. Others I either donate to the library, give to a friend, or donate it to the senior living center I work at.

At the risk of getting slated I keep everything, they are my friends, I adore my books and most of them are birthday, Xmas gifts off family or have some other sentimental reason. Hence I have a few thousand but I don’t do anything else “bad” smoke, drugs, drink. Being buried alive by books is a good way to go. ?

I’ve turned over a new leaf after reading Marie Kondo’s The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up… If I truly, deeply, honestly think I will reread the book again, I keep it. If, in all honesty, I don’t think I will, I pass it on to a friend who I think will like it. Otherwise, it goes to the library for its Used Books for Sale shelves or to a charitable organization for someone else to enjoy. I review my decisions periodically and sometimes let go of those I thought I would always keep when I am ready to let them bring joy to others. Mind you, between my husband and I, we still own over 1,000 books. We aren’t hurting for reading material and I am constantly borrowing books from the library, but 1,000 books is too much to hold onto (this is only my opinion of myself. I am not hinting that 1,000 books is too much for another person to own, just he and I)

Depends on the book and the format– I read e-books whenever possible, and that’s a library I share with my husband and some books you can loan out. Print books I donate unless it’s a favorite or collected book, in which case I keep the book or loan it out to friends.

I pass them to the friend who I think would most appreciate each book.I used to keep them all,but I’m too old to accumulate a lot of books for my family to have to get rid of.

I’ve got a giveaway-to-the-library pile of books that I’ve read that I didn’t like or that aren’t worth a second look. Someone else might like them. The ones I really like, I keep. There are some books I’ve read several times (Lonesome Dove, Marley & Me, To Kill a Mockingbird, etc.).

It I hated it, I give it away. I’ve only read a few which I really didn’t like. I still force myself to give up some I love just because having over 2,000 books gets crazy.

If I liked the book I keep it. If I didn’t like it or thought it was just okay I donate it. I may have to rethink this as I currently have a ton of books and no spare for them.
