War and Peace. Big book but worth it. I read it on a beach in one week in Italy.
Also Persuasion by Jane Austen – I think it’s her best.

To Kill a Mockingbird. ANY Charles Dickens but my favorites are A Tale of Two Cities, David Copperfield and Oliver Twist. Great Expectations is considered his best work but IMHO I liked it the least. But judge for yourself.
