Yes, A Streetcar Named Desire is also one of my favorites. What I admire about Tenn. Williams is his emphasis on realism and his acute psychological insight. To me, many of his plays are what I would call ” zestful”.

Moreover, while his plays are very realistic, they don’t depress or sadden me the way the plays by Arthur Miller often do.

I love his plays because he has such an ear for language and such a heart for those who feel like outsiders. The biography Mad Pilgrimage of the Flesh is excellent. My favorites of his are A Streetcar Named Desire and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof

I agree that his use of language I think separates his works. I love A Streetcar Named Desire since having explored his use of language, I think his combination of Realism and Expressionism highlights Blanche’s psychological state and forces an audience to decide whether or not they view her sympathetically

Likewise, Arthur Miller’s Death of A Salesman involves an interaction between dreams, family dynamics and possibly some old fashioned Freudian theories.

The Glass Menagerie is my all time favorite play. Steetcar named desire is fabulous. Also “Sweet bird of youth” “Suddenly Last summer” and “The Rose tattoo” I like all of them. Weirdly enough I always found “Cat on a hot tin roof” one of his less accomplished works
