I loved the first book, liked the second, third was okay, the last was atrocious. So yeah. The first always makes me feel nostalgic though. ? Edit: do NOT watch the movies. The whole thing is one giant cringe/facepalm.
I went to see the first movie with my then minor daughter. Then I read the book, then I read all the books. I liked them (go ahead and shoot me), they’re not meant to be great works of literature, but I’ve read worse from major well known writers.
Fantastic example of the female mind. When men write their power fantasies it turns into Conan or Rambo. When women right there’s it’s about 2 alpha males fighting over a girl who has no real personality.
It’s fascinating when you read the series understanding that Bella’s entire purpose is to be as bland and uninteresting as possible in order to convince the reader that no matter how bland or average she is, there will still be a slummy hunk and a risky millionaire just waiting to sweet her off her feet. The last book especially brings this home when she becomes this special snowflake of unstoppableness purely because she exists, as in “even if you’re bland, you can still be a special unique super powerful person”. Which is obviously untrue, but none the less completes the fantasy and assures the reader they ARE special under that bland exterior.
That’s because men are told from childhood that they are ‘great’ and they should ‘take risks’ while women are told ‘conform, fit in, ‘put others first, ‘ and ‘take the safe route’. So as a result, they feel kind of bland and empty (especially teenagers.)
Besides Harry Potter was bland. He was interesting because of his legacy. Not his personality.
I believe it’s definitely worth reading once. Since then I’ve discovered adult paranormal and won’t go back to YA. but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t great
At the time that I was the target audience I remember hating book 2 (felt it was pointless) liked book 4. Post being target audience I like “Short Second Life of Bree Tanner” the best of them (that short novella written post book 4)
Right! I felt it contributed nothing to the plot and from a romance perspective it made no sense in the relationship, plus you think he’d have grown up enough in the last 100 years (or be forced to read 100 years worth of books for school) that he’d have learned something about relationships and women
If you want a quick paranormal read without much depth, yes. I agree they aren’t well written. I looked it up once, I believe they were on a third grade reading level.
It seems that everybody has their own certain taste in books and apparently either love them or hate them. I think you should just try at least the first book.
Yes. I enjoyed the story!!! No it is not written as a piece of literature, but I was so very hooked, I loved it, every time I re read it! 60 and still do a read! Enjoy the pleasure!
I would say, read it. You have to decide for your self whether you like it or not. If you don’t like it, you can always stop! I haven’t read the series because I don’t read anything with vampires in it. They seriously freak me out!
Engrossing story that keeps you turning pages…but I did not like the message it subtly gave: girls give up everything for love, while guys just take. ?
There was also some pseudo-science in one of the later books about genetics. Won’t spoil it for you by being more specific, but the Meyers could use a crash course in genetics. Final gripe (which applies to many books): traditionally vampires are evil; destroyers of innocents; doomed souls. So why this upsurge in making them romantic heroes?
It’s alright. Not my favorite Zelda, but it’s up there. Terrible story, great gameplay, the puzzles are pretty challenging tbh. Oh!!! You meant the books. I completely forgot those existed.
I actually really liked the books. The movies kind of ruined them for me though 🙁 only because Edward and Bella in the movies were nothing like how I imagined them.
I’ve always been a very serious reader and love literature. Read them at age 32 to see what all of the hype was about and finished the entire series in less than a week.
I have been a huge fantasy/sci fi fan for more years than I want to admit…but if you enjoyed that and are willing to dip your toe into more, try http://sarahjmaas.com/…this is a wonderful YA writer…altho as an older person love her work, too. Her Throne of Glass series is incredible and her writing is amazingly good!
I have a Pinterest folder called war on Twilight. Because HP is better in every way. ( I actually watched all of the movies, but did not read any of the books in the Twilight series)
I loved it. I related to the main character alot but it definitely depends on your taste. And please do not base the books off the movies. The movies were complete crap
I read the first one to see what all the hype was about. I liked it, but not enough to read the rest. I’m sure I would’ve loved and read them all when I was twelve.
I was obsessed with those books for forever. I love them other than the fact that Bella has no personality, but I guess not everyone can be so admiring
I enjoyed them years ago when they first came out.
Hide it in a time-capsule and bury it? 😉 😛
I enjoyed the series. New moon was my least favorite though.
Yes new moon had such a slow and non interesting story line!
I third that
I like them. Currently reading eclipse
I loved them.
I loved this series. I would eagerly await for the next book to come out.
I enjoyed them!
I loved the first book, liked the second, third was okay, the last was atrocious. So yeah. The first always makes me feel nostalgic though. ?
Edit: do NOT watch the movies. The whole thing is one giant cringe/facepalm.
I didn’t like the 4th one either lol
Actually this is the only oeuvre of literature that I like better the movies then books ???
Good books, horrible movies!
God awful! I couldn’t even finish the first one!
They’re my guilty pleasure lol. I’ve reread them a few times ♥️
Don’t feel guilty for reading! 🙂
I used to be a fan (I got into it because my niece was a teenager at the time). I have since moved on to better books.
I too have read far better books, but I still enjoy them lol
I enjoyed them at the time I read them, don’t get me wrong, but I’m not a fan of the series anymore. Just saying.
They aren’t for everyone. They resonate with a certain type of person. (like most books.) If you aren’t that person, you’re going to hate them.
It’s one of my guilty pleasure series. I think the relationships are awful but I still love it.
I liked the books for the most part. But the movies were atrocious.
I liked them and read through them really quickly. Don’t know if I would re-read though as my taste has changed a bit
I read them a while ago, but I didn’t really like them much
Garbage
They horrible awful stupid books
loved them
guilty pleasure
yall have no imagination ?
I absolutely loved the books when they first come out. I don’t think I’d feel the same now, so wouldn’t wish to reread them.
Loved the books, not so much the movies… the last movie was the worst!
I loved them when I was younger. I tried to reread them again in my 20s and found them really boring.
Didn’t like them, I DNF them?
I loved them way better then the movies though ….i thought.
Love it ❤❤?
Loved it. So did most of my reading coworkers.
Loved it couldn’t put the book down
Concept is cool and great but it was written poorly. I think she should of have someone write it for her
Meh
Some people love and some people hate it hahaha you’ll need to read it and get your own opinion. I love, btw <3
??

I loved them and I’m not really a fan of Y.A.
I believe it’s definitely worth reading once. Since then I’ve discovered adult paranormal and won’t go back to YA. but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t great

I enjoyed them, they were the books that got me into reading againas a teenager
Loved it
Poorly written crap
It seems that everybody has their own certain taste in books and apparently either love them or hate them.

Mildly obsessed….and I don’t care who knows! lol
Yes. I enjoyed the story!!! No it is not written as a piece of literature, but I was so very hooked, I loved it, every time I re read it! 60 and still do a read! Enjoy the pleasure!
Great Story Telling!
Better than 50 shades ,but crappy all the same
The woman who wrote 50 Shades wrote it as a Twilight fanfiction at first.
Awesome series totally love it
Great idea for a story, but by book four it’s a bloated mess in need of some serious editing.
Though the writing isn’t stellar, I did love the books
I enjoyed it
I think you should read it. I did and I liked it
I love love love the books the movies do it no justices. I can re-read those books over and over again.
Loved it
I would say, read it. You have to decide for your self whether you like it or not. If you don’t like it, you can always stop! I haven’t read the series because I don’t read anything with vampires in it. They seriously freak me out!

Oh I am so with you on that!!! How the heck did they become romantic?! ?
Brain candy. Nice to read something intriguing but not heavy.
Love it!!
Loved it!
the series was a fun read…nothing mind-bending, but fun!
Creative, well paced, average writing. Low character development.
Zero new ideas within the books.
Had a promising start, but turned into garbage.
Loved it
My favorite
Loved it!
Loved it.
I was hooked throughout the whole series!
I loved ‘The Host’ by the same author too.
The Host was wonderful!! ???
@Lori I want her to write a sequel!
@Zoe I would LOVE that too!! ???
Couldnt get through book 2 too much moping and emo ism I gave up reading the series after that
I love it. The characters are very real to me. But definitely not everyone cup of tea.
I loved it…..It will keep you busy….Can’t put it down….
Love it too!

I loved it as a teenager. I tried re reading it as an adult I hated it. It makes me really sad. Twilight was the book that got me into reading.
I’ve always been a very serious reader and love literature. Read them at age 32 to see what all of the hype was about and finished the entire series in less than a week.
I ONLY READ THE FIRST 2 I THINK LOVED THEM. BUT I ALSO LOVED THE MOVIES.
I LOVED it. It actually made me interested in the fantasy genre, which is one I’d always rolled my eyes at. But it truly started my love of fantasy.
I have been a huge fantasy/sci fi fan for more years than I want to admit…but if you enjoyed that and are willing to dip your toe into more, try http://sarahjmaas.com/…this is a wonderful YA writer…altho as an older person love her work, too. @Karen I’ve heard of that series! I’ll give it a whirl.
Love love love!! ?
One of my favourite series
Books are good, wouldnt recommend the movies though
Couldn’t even make it through the first movie!
they were terrible
It was alright
It’s a wish fulfillment story it’s just a Silly series. But it’s fast paced.
Interesting concept, poorly written.
Enjoyed the books, not so much the movies.
Loved it.
didn’t like it
A good series….loved it
I did not like it, found it very badly written. However it is a very popular series. It depends on your own taste.
Absolutely brilliant. I loved it x
Didn’t get past the first book. But a lot of my friends would tell you different. ?
Totally awesome.
I have a Pinterest folder called war on Twilight. Because HP is better in every way. ( I actually watched all of the movies, but did not read any of the books in the Twilight series)
Read the books, then judge. 🙂
Such an awesome series. I can always re-read them.
Didn’t like books or movies!

It’s a series that you have to judge by yourself. I hope you’ll love it like I do! 😉 <3 <3
Read for yourself.
Loved!
I loved it. I related to the main character alot but it definitely depends on your taste. And please do not base the books off the movies. The movies were complete crap
Only read the first book. Too much telling, found it a bad read. Others liked it. I found the writing poor and the story boring.
???????????
I read all of them but I really enjoyed the first two. I could read those again but the others? eh
Loved it
Loved it
I read the first one to see what all the hype was about. I liked it, but not enough to read the rest. I’m sure I would’ve loved and read them all when I was twelve.
