i thought they were kind of fun when i read them back in high school, but being older and realizing some of the stuff portrayed as romantic that actually isn’t and is just weird and creepy, i would never actually pick them up
I am 49 years old and I read them just after the last book was released and the first movie just came out a few months before. A coworker talked me to reading the books and I enjoyed them so much, I read them in 9 days. That’s with working 40 hours round trip to and from work took an hour. Being a single mom and taking care of three kids. And several other of my coworkers were just is wrapped up into the series and a couple of the coworkers were college educated with degrees so it’s not just a teenage kiddy book. It’s all in whatever person enjoys reading I love the story the fairytale. No I did not believe it was real it’s just a story I enjoyed an escape.
I loved them and read them in two days so that I could watch the movie. The movies weren’t as good until the very last one, but my daughter’s and I watch whenever it’s on tv and then sometimes DVD as well.
I found the books better the the films. So I would say worth a read. They are not terrible and are worth reading. Nice light hearted book not to be taken seriously xx
I read them and liked them BUT they are not well-written. The basic idea isn’t bad, but the writing and the execution aren’t fantastic, either. I think it’s kind of a good idea that was written by a poor author. (I’m sorry, I know some people love her, but I just don’t find her to be very skilled. Reads like stuff my friend and I collaborated on in high school. lol) That said, they’re (as mentioned by several people) light reading, nothing too intense, and as long as you don’t go into it expecting something amazing, you’ll probably enjoy them. 🙂
I didn’t actually think the writing was that bad. I fully expected it to be terrible. But I thought it was a pretty decent execution. I once tried to read 50 Shades and THAT was some horrible writing. I made it through 2 chapters. It was like a middle schooler wrote it. So, so bad.
Love them. I think these are book everyone has to read to find out for tbemselfs because there was such a hype about them. You wont know until you try them.

They’re poorly written, lacking in substance, and propagate abusive relationships. There’s no redeeming qualities.

The first one I really enjoyed, but I liked the follow ups less and less. I felt the main characters were less liable as it went on
