His best books–Chance, Victory, “The Secret Sharer”–are among the finest twentieth century English novels.

Conrad has been a significant and meaningful voice in literature. His long story “Heart of Darkness” is amazing!

He gets too much attention in my opinion.

His language was awkward, but I think he was multi-lingual, so the mix of both was noticeable. Plus his characters were not always likable. He’s okay.

Love him. Start small – try his story “The Duel”. (It was also made into one of the most gorgeous films ever.) http://www.online-literature.com/conrad/3123/

I need to reread the heart of darkness. I had heard it was excellent but I didn’t like it all. Going to read this at some point though?
