I really enjoyed the first half of the book, but found it repetitive after that and didn’t finish. I’m really looking forward to the movie though!
I read a few pages and had no problem not finishing it. Nothing about the book was the least bit entertaining. Just a book of name dropping.
The book is a satire of ultra-rich Singaporean society – hence all the name dropping. I thought it was a very fun read, with better character development than is usual for a summer read. Can’t wait to see the movie next week!
I agree. It’s not great literature, but the entire trilogy is the best written escapist fiction I’ve encountered in a long time.

I couldn’t finish it. I didn’t care about the characters or what happened to them.
