Boy rude to girl most of book one to only show how much he cares in the climax. I’m looking at you Twilight, The Mortal Instruments, and The Infernal Devices
The sexy villain turned good guy with a tragic backstory (Aaron Warner). I still sometimes love them when they never do turn good (Sebastian Morgenstern).
The one where they ask the character to put all their weapons down and it takes a full 30 mins of just pulling dagger after dagger out of places and then the person goes ‘And the rest’ and the char just keeps going
Starting out naive and growing through the story to become a strong leader. Also like secret princesses or growing up normal to find out they are part of a fantasy land. Bad boys turned lovers are also a must ?
– good girl falls for the bad guy – enemies to lovers – forbidden love – villain with a tragic backstory – arranged marriage turns into true love – the chosen one destined to save the world/end the villain – mc discovers their secret/strong power
Examples: Aldrik from Air Awakens Darrin from Black Mage Tyrrik from Darkest Drae Arcus from Frost blood Asher from Revelation Kel from a Darker Shade of Magic Titus from the Burning Sky River from Even the Darkest Stars
I don’t think there is too much tbh … as long as the book makes sense and is written well I’m in. But i don’t think i have ever read book with more than 20+ of age gap
I honestly love all “cliche” plot lines lol. Like love triangles (done right) bad boy good girl, true love conquers all, good guy doing bad things for a good reason
@Angelee the young elites Marie lu the ending is so fucked Up but lowkey has a good cause to it I don’t if I should cry for the good cause becuase it was so pure or the bad one becuase my ship was destroyed. legend by Marie lu had that same sort but now she has a fourth book coming so the ending won’t be bad but knowing her the ending will be fucked Up cause all her endings are good in their own way but still fucked up.
@Angelee see those books catch me and fucked me UP it’s my favorite series by my favorite author if you have recommendations like the young elites lemme know
Girls disguised as boys, “found families,” the lost “insert royal title here,” soulmates (when done well), hate to love, bad boys/girls who turn out to be secret cinnamon rolls, and ~The Chosen One~.
Arranged marriage where H and h hate each other at first but then fall in love. I love that shit ??
@Thê ditto! I love the enemies to lovers too. 🙂
What book is your favorite with that trope??
@Angelee The Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge and The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh plus millions of stories on Wattpad ?
“Radiance’ by Grace Draven is AWESOME with the arranged marriage!
@Angelee thanks so much for the suggestion. I’ll be sure to read it now ?
Loved Radiance!!
@Antaisha it was so genuine! Their love wasnt based off appearance, but intellectually.

Possessive and bossy boys
Enemies to lovers
The hate to love trope is my faaaaaav?
more than I should.
Boy rude to girl most of book one to only show how much he cares in the climax. I’m looking at you Twilight, The Mortal Instruments, and The Infernal Devices
At least you can admit it!

Enemies to lovers. I need to get son recmindations soon actually lol
The chosen one/prophecy.
Not enemies, but they just REALLY don’t like each other… like AT ALL, but then end up falling in love…
Love triangles and enemies to lovers
The sexy villain turned good guy with a tragic backstory (Aaron Warner). I still sometimes love them when they never do turn good (Sebastian Morgenstern).
@Nikole Me too. I’m glad we get a glimpse of what he could’ve been at the very end though
@Michelle me too. But I literally sobbed for the life he should of had. I will always have a soft spot for Sebastian.
The one where they ask the character to put all their weapons down and it takes a full 30 mins of just pulling dagger after dagger out of places and then the person goes ‘And the rest’ and the char just keeps going
yessss
Love triangles
Ummmm. Hot chick doesn’t know she’s hot but feels hot when the oh so forbidden love interest shows said interest
I like a strong women that can do incredible things and an equally strong man that adores her… with lots of smut … ???☺️
And she knows she strong so no whining!!
Also enemies to lovers
Bad boy thrope haha not necessarily just for YA
Haters to lovers, fake dating/marriage for coverup, hot and flirty close friend to the MC (Nikolai!)
All of these! Lol!! I see people say how much they hate them, but I’m like “do you really?” ?
@Andrea right?! I’m feeling very validated here ?
Starting out naive and growing through the story to become a strong leader. Also like secret princesses or growing up normal to find out they are part of a fantasy land. Bad boys turned lovers are also a must ?
Possessive bad boys. My friend hates them ?
seconded lol
– good girl falls for the bad guy
– enemies to lovers
– forbidden love
– villain with a tragic backstory
– arranged marriage turns into true love
– the chosen one destined to save the world/end the villain
– mc discovers their secret/strong power

When the evil guy falls in love but is still evil, just not with her.
@Timi yes!
What’s the name of the book?
@Mehjabin
These two are part of a larger series but the books switch POV. These ones are my favorite
Thanks, @Timi!
These come before that series.
All of them
Instalove. Its how it went for my boyfriend and I (and we’ve been together for 13 years now) so I really don’t mind when I read this trope.
Soulmates , forbidden , age gaps , bestfriends fall in love
For age gaps, how much is too much in your opinion?
I don’t think there is too much tbh … as long as the book makes sense and is written well I’m in. But i don’t think i have ever read book with more than 20+ of age gap
My favourite two books with age gaps are Birthday Girl by Penelope douglas and Torn by Carian Cole ( although these are not ya )
@Noelene If you’ve read Sarah J Maas. She has huge age gaps lol
Really 😀 ? Do you have some recommendations? ?
I honestly love all “cliche” plot lines lol. Like love triangles (done right) bad boy good girl, true love conquers all, good guy doing bad things for a good reason
I don’t mind the whole enemies to lovers thing DEPENDING on how toxic things were when they were enemies.
Bad boy slowly turning good guy
Is reverse harem a trope? Well I love ’em!?
@Aboagyewaa same ??
Enemies to lovers. The bad guy turning good.
when people go from hating each other to being in love???
as long as it makes sense/ their relationship isn’t toxic or harmful
Hate to love relationships! ❤️
Love triangles
Warrior princess, soulmates
Evil ruler
Secret royalty ?
Girls with god-like power, but they don’t know it and have to work to discover it
Couple going through hell and back just to be together.
Arranged marriages and enemy to lover relationships ?
BAD BOYS, PERIOD
enemies to lovers, but with really good development not just instant love ????
Love triangles… ???♂️
Love triangles!
Love triangles? and when she or he chooses the bad one turned good for love!❤️❤️❤️
I really like love triangles ?
I actually enjoy most tropes if done well. The only exception is the huge problem that could be easily solved with communication.
the whole soulmates thing, I really love that characters find their ‘other halves’ in books!!
Hate to love… bad boys. Ugh. They get me every time
I like some damsel in distress action, I know not very feminist of me, but I still like it when a guy kicks some butt to save his lady.
@Kelsi I like it when she saves HIM?!
Fuck you to fuck me type, bad boys, girls with dark pasts
Or a fucked up ending, one where the intended lovers never get together and it’s for this giant cause just pure pain that’s it my favorite trope
@Mahek ooooo can u give me an example of a book?
@Angelee the young elites Marie lu the ending is so fucked Up but lowkey has a good cause to it I don’t if I should cry for the good cause becuase it was so pure or the bad one becuase my ship was destroyed. legend by Marie lu had that same sort but now she has a fourth book coming so the ending won’t be bad but knowing her the ending will be fucked Up cause all her endings are good in their own way but still fucked up.
@Mahek omg I loved that series! And oh balled like a lil bitch at that ending lol it was perfect and I could totally reread the series.
@Jennifer secret cinnamon rolls ? – I love everything you just said!
gender bender
What is that? I typed it into gif and got this lol
@Timi characters who look in either gender..
my favorite character is a tomboy who looks good as a guy..
@Jane I don’t think I’ve read one like that
the book is Leviathan by Scott Westerfeld..
it’s my all-time favorite
i meant, a character who looks good in any gender
kick ass main characters are my fav, i also have a soft spot for the bad boy romances
Chosen ones, not gonna lie
