In terms of idea and context it’s not that bad, but the writing is inconsistent, a bit juvenile and i personally found it okay as fanfiction but not as an actual novel
Forced myself to finish it. It’s very long with a lot of useless material between the first and last page. It was quite problematic, Hardin is physically and emotionally abusive and Tessa’s affair is so horrible to Noah. Honestly the twist at the end of the book is the only reason why I religiously followed the production of the movie for 6 months. I loved the changes they made, I thought the movie was so much better. Even Anna Todd said if she was to write the book again she’d change Hardin’s aggressive character and make him softer like they did in the movie.
I’m sorry but i quited on reading that. The first chapters are boring. But i’ve been cramming for the movie? though, i’ll try to read it again some time.
Sorry for my rant! I have, in my opinion, she’s a good author, but I think the whole concept of the book isn’t really good. I mean the main character is based off of Harry Styles(the original story from Wattpad, instead of Hardin it was Harry) , and he pretty abusive and manipulative towards the main female character (I don’t wanna spoil anything or I would go into it) I really all of the series in wattpad when Hardin was Harry and then bought the first book when she got it published. I loved it when I first read it (I was like 13 and obsessed with FanFiction) but then I realized how “disgusting” the whole concept is.
It’s good as a fan fiction not so as a book .. it’s boring and dragged and repetitive and I just have no idea why people are so crazed up about it though
No. I read the first page on Wattpad when it was a fanfiction and could not read anymore. I do not condone that type of relationship and it isn’t my style of book or writing.
Yes I have read the original story (a one direction fanfic) years ago and thought it was terrible. There’s just endless fighting and misunderstandings, and these are used as plot devises because there’s no actual plot. However, I have to admit that it is kind of addicting because you’re just really hoping that everything finally ends well. I stopped reading halfway through the second book because I couldn’t bear how extremely often that stupid trope was used that’s like “I’m gonna run away before anyone can explain what actually happened because I’m mad”. Also, looking back at it now (I was in highschool back then) I see that all the relationships in the story were very abusive and toxic.
Read them when I was about 13 on wattpad – I enjoyed them then but now I’m older I know the storyline is tbh super bad and I just can’t read them anymore
I’m reading it right now. Its like a train wreck that I can’t stop watching. I understand why some people might dislike it, but it’s like you love to hate it if that makes sense.
Me. I was so intrigued when the trailer for the official movie was released months ago that I became curious of the book sooo I read the first two books of the series. (The movie did a pretty good job, though the sequences were different from the book.)
Yes. I mean, it did shock the hell out of me with the heroine was a huge door mat and that’s one of the things that drives me nuts. I couldn’t finish the series because it was the same old back and forth.
I just finished it and I loved it but it was so toxic and everything a relationship shouldn’t be but the drama dragged me in and I hope it’s not a bad movie
I did way back 2014??? it was rlly famous is the fandom (one direction) back then so my 13-year old self felt the need to read it lmao the main character of the book was harry
I had no idea at first, that it was a fan fiction on Wattpad. I saw the trailer and thought it looked interesting. When I read more about it, I thought it was like a FSOG for teens! I read the books on Wattpad and though Hardin was an ass and Tessa kept on taking it, I was hooked. I mean, I’m old enough to know it was a toxic relationship. I was reading to find out if anything changes and it does. People have had mixed opinions about the movie as well. It is PG-13 so just hints at sex and Hardin is not nearly as much of a jerk. I actually liked the movie. I am really curious to see if there will be a second movie. I think Hero Fiennes Tiffin and Josephine Langford did a great job playing Hardin and Tessa. But I realize it isn’t for everyone.
It’s horribly written in my opinion and the drama is super over the top. It kept my entire family coming back for more. ? I’ve read all four of the main series and none of them got better. There is a spin-off series, but I’m not hopeful. @Sarah Want to leave your take on it?
@Amanda If it wasn’t for the intense drama I wouldn’t have been able to get through these books. The writing is bad and the story is very overused. ??♀️
its sooooooooo guuuudddd, luvd it! luvd it! i wasnt that into it first time, just started it to knw wat the buzz was abt but got hooked and here i am after the 4 books, and spreading the luv. hands up to Anna Todd, u did dis to us!!
I read it back when Anna was writing on wattpad, I think I started reading it when she first started the second book. Anyway, I looooveeed it back then, but I think that if I read it again I wouldn’t like it. I may actually hate it. Idk
I just finished it days ago and it’s actually pretty good. Their relationship is a little abusive like some said, yes, but the story itself and the characters development are really good. It’s really intense. I understand why some people wouldn’t like it, but I think you should give it a try, especially after the first book. It gets better with time, I recommend it.
Read it on the wattpad version and the relationship was toxic but the movie doesn’t really show the toxicity of the relationship and all the relationships she forms in the books. I could read through the first book but only made it through half of the second book.
I tried. And couldn’t get through it. It’s a very irritating book.
??
@Daodine what was your thoughts on it?
its good
Tho it has a lot of grammatical errors
Unfortunately I made myself finish the entire thing. It’s not well written at all and should’ve stayed a watt pad FanFiction
I was planning on reading it since my friend has a copy, what mad it so bad?
@Alyssa i personally am in love with it.
In terms of idea and context it’s not that bad, but the writing is inconsistent, a bit juvenile and i personally found it okay as fanfiction but not as an actual novel
I have. It felt a lot like fifty shades. And the ending ?
It yet! It’s in my shelf though.
Ong yes and I loved it read it three times
not worth it
It was so bad. The romance is so dysfunctional and awful. The main guy character was so awful.
I have. Not my favorite but I felt committed to finish it lol
@Amanda ditto!
@Sarah I will say that im very curious to see Hero play him in the movie so I will probably go see it.
@Amanda no denying. I’ll see the movie too. Maybe they’ll cut out the bits that frustrated me in the book and I’ll like it more lol
I liked it. Easy fun read.
Forced myself to finish it. It’s very long with a lot of useless material between the first and last page.

I’m still reading it but it’s really long ?
I’ve read it. It’s not so good in my opinion. Today I’ll go to the movie. I’m curious to see which one is better.
It’s fan fiction that’s all it should have been
Yes ofcourse!!! The books series is amazing. The movie ain’t so good though
I did its really great book!!
I liked it!
Not a masterpiece but a lovely, easy book to read
I didn’t like it, it was too long for me and a bit boring.
I’m reading it now! I like it a lot, but I’m wondering how it’s going to continue for so many books…
@Megan lots of twists and turns, but totally worth it for me
I’m sorry but i quited on reading that. The first chapters are boring. But i’ve been cramming for the movie? though, i’ll try to read it again some time.
Yes I have.
Yes on wattpad because I like the original story

I think Anna Todd, if she published some other things it could be amazing but the After series ain’t it lol
The Brighest Stars is good.
Again, didn’t mean to rant, and it’s just my opinion! If you love it, love it! IMHO, it’s not for me personally!
Read them all twice, absolutely loved them
I’ve read it when it was still a fanfiction on Wattpad. loved it.
It sucks
It’s good as a fan fiction not so as a book .. it’s boring and dragged and repetitive and I just have no idea why people are so crazed up about it though
No. I read the first page on Wattpad when it was a fanfiction and could not read anymore. I do not condone that type of relationship and it isn’t my style of book or writing.
I wanted to read it but all these comments are making me dislike it already.
If you are into long stories it’s actually pretty good .
yesss

Basically just about an abusive relationship. I’d stay away if I were you ?
Read them when I was about 13 on wattpad – I enjoyed them then but now I’m older I know the storyline is tbh super bad and I just can’t read them anymore
Currently reading half way through the first book it’s ok
My 16 yo self loved them so much
I’m reading it right now. Its like a train wreck that I can’t stop watching. I understand why some people might dislike it, but it’s like you love to hate it if that makes sense.
Not a fan of fanfiction and teenfic genre
Yes
Hated it.

Yes
Just got it… Haven’t had the chance to read it yet
Very messy
I just finished it and I loved it but it was so toxic and everything a relationship shouldn’t be but the drama dragged me in and I hope it’s not a bad movie

i tried rereading but stop after second book because i found the relationship so toxic
trueeee ?

I read it when it was a fanfic on wattpad and yIKES. It’s not the worst writing wise but it’s a VERYYYYY toxic relationship and Tessa is a doormat.
Read it back in 2012 or sth because I was harry styles fanatic ????
I read it back when Anna was writing on wattpad, I think I started reading it when she first started the second book. Anyway, I looooveeed it back then, but I think that if I read it again I wouldn’t like it. I may actually hate it. Idk
It romanticized a very toxic relationship.
@Ivy well yes and no
I just finished it days ago and it’s actually pretty good. Their relationship is a little abusive like some said, yes, but the story itself and the characters development are really good. Yes, had to stop reading after a few chapters. Didn’t like it at all but I guess some people did ??♀️ honestly thought Tessa was a major bitch
My sister has…I saw the movie tho
Yes…soooooo much better than the movie
Read it on the wattpad version and the relationship was toxic but the movie doesn’t really show the toxicity of the relationship and all the relationships she forms in the books. I could read through the first book but only made it through half of the second book.
Dude. I read the original on Wattpad as it was being UPDATED. That shit was so messed up.
