I wouldn’t start with Deerskin. It’s WAY dark compared to her other work.

Throne of Glass? I don’t know if you can call it a “total girl” book, but it’s got a strong female character. It’s about an assassin, who has to enter a ‘fight to the death’-kind of competition while keeping her identity and her true agenda hidden from the other contestants and the king himself. Throne of Glass is just the first book in the series, but I enjoyed it. She’s not someone you want to mess with ??

Gotta try it then?

1
KevinQuestion author

There are about 6 books in the series… Interesting.

1
KevinQuestion author

Actually throne of Glass is second book in the series.

1
Cille

@Kevin I’ve only read the two first and I’m about to start on the third one, but I really like them so far ?

1
KevinQuestion author

Assassin’s blade is book one. Seems like I’m probably gonna have trouble finding free editions?

0
Cille

@Kevin No it isn’t? It’s Throne of Glass, Crown of Midnight, Heir of Fire, Empire of storm (don’t remember if it’s before or after Queen of Shadows), (Queen of Shadows) and the Assassin’s Blade

0
Cille

@Kevin I think Assassin’s Blade might work as a prequel to the others. What happened before

0
Cille

@Kevin It’s apparently a collection of things that transpired BEFORE THE Throne of Glass series. Before she became champion for the king. Like a book about her history kind of. But otherwise ‘Throne of Glass’ IS the first one that starts it all. It starts the conflicts and the competition. Not sure which book was written first, but yeah. You should still read them ?

1
KevinQuestion author

Sorry! My error! Assassin’s blade isn’t part of the series. It’s written in 2014. And Throne of glass is indeed the first.

1
KevinQuestion author

Gotta find them all!?

1
KevinQuestion author

Thank you.

1
Cille

@Kevin That’s okay. I got a little confused, because I haven’t read them all, so I might have been wrong. But the Assassin’s Blade is an addidition to it. Like a history, but not itself part of the series ?

1
Cille

You’re welcome! I hope you enjoy them as much as I do ?

1
KevinQuestion author

I’m sure I’d like it…it already seems interesting.

1
Louisa

Currently doing my re-read of this in time for Kingdom of Ash. On Heir of Fire (book 3)

2
KevinQuestion author

I apparently found all the books…. Apart from book 2 Crown of midnight.?

2
Laron

Lol I have this series waiting for me, but I’m currently reading assassin’s blade. I’ve read throne of glass a couple of years back, but didn’t get to the rest so now I’m reading AB before going into TOG. They say you should read AB before on of the books…. Hmm can’t remember which one exactly but it’s in the middle somewhere, but I doubt I’d want to take a detour from the series to read AB and then go back again. But I’m excited, I love Caleana ??

1
Louisa

@Laron read it after Throne of Glass – before Crown of midnight – so in other words your good!

Penryn and the end of days trilogy by Susan Ee. Its a paranormal dystopian action romance thing, but I really enjoyed the main character. She’s bad ass but also real, I didn’t get annoyed at her at all! I read through this series in one week. The story was pretty interesting as well.

Any book written by Tamora Pierce.
Any book written by Rachel Vincent.
The Addison Holmes and the JJ Graves series from Liliana Hart.
Please note that the last two authors have some of their books with adult themes. I wasnt sure if you were asking for just female leads or for a girl as in a young girl to read. If younger, I’d stick to Tamora Pierce and go down the list of a teenager.
