I tried very hard to enjoy the book, and I seldom give up on a book. Sadly, I just could not finish it. However, I watched the movie and liked it a lot. Very strange, as usually the opposite is true for me.

That’s interesting. I disliked it so much I wrote off the film. Maybe I’ll give it a go then. X

I always try to read the book first. However, now that I’m reading a lot more than I have in the past, I’m realizing that there’s a lot more books that were made into movies so now I’m back tracking but I’d recommend reading the book(s) first

I watched the movie whilst in the middle of reading the book, I loved both and felt compelled to “update” my husband and daughter on things that were left out of the movie. Not huge plot twists but “so and so get married!”.

I agree. Hence the word “if”. Lots of people like it. It escapes me as to why though. Well actually I have a good idea but a discussion wouldn’t be suitable for this page!

I disagree. A lot more than 30% dislike it. It’s just not many are comfortable going against the grain.

Spolier: Shame I’m not in your book club. I read it. All of it. It was depressing although I liked Ove he’d had such a miserable life. Then the neighbours were annoying. More than annoying. They forced themselves on and inconvenienced him and apparently that’s heartwarming. Not to me it isn’t lol
