Ok so I’m reading Gone Girl, and at first I wasn’t super into it. Now I’m about half way through and all I keep thinking is THIS CHICK IS A PSYCHO.
Ok so I’m reading Gone Girl, and at first I wasn’t super into it. Now I’m about half way through and all I keep thinking is THIS CHICK IS A PSYCHO.
Such a great book
Yup
Just wait…
Well-spotted.
I dunno-I kind of got her. Is that bad?
Yes!!!! And THAT is why I loved it so.
Just wait until the end!!!
Yep. So much better than the movie!
Just WAIT!
KRAZY!
Did not like it at all.
Glad I finally finished it. Hated EVERY character in that book. The ending made it worth the two year slog.
I was not a fan and her others are far more disturbing in my mind. It concerns me that people are even able to create these scenarios for a book.
@Marion after everyone was talking about Verity, I had to read it and at then end I thought I must be psycho because I wasn’t that disturbed ?… it is crazy what authors come up with!
While it wasn’t out of character based on everything we learned throughout the book, I was so mad at the decision one of the characters made at the end that I literally threw the book across the room.
I think that’s a pretty common reaction. ?
Gone girl doesnt get good until the 2nd half IMO….and then you cant put it down. 🙂
Yep she’s totally psycho. But can’t put it down. I liked the movie too
Connie Curlee Tucker Shrader loved the movie….actors they picked were perfect.
Just keep reading. I loved it.
I hated this book. I listened to the audio book and was mad I lost that many hours of my life. I did not like any of the characters.
Yes, she is
You got that right! It’s a great movie also.
Loved it!
Yes she is!
Yes!!!! Keep reading!!!!
She’s not great
Yep
Yep
I loved the book because I HATED the mains characters lol
Monologue of “the cool girl” has stayed with me for years.
@Jennifer , me too!
Iyou can always tell when some hits 50%. Its “wtf is this book!?!”
Yup.
Super messed up! You have to read her other books too!
Psycho Chick, yes. Loved the book.
Book is so so much better than the movie
The movie sucked!!?
Yuck. Hated it and everything she wrote,
Did you feel sorry for her in the beginning? I did, until the middle, then I was like “WTF?”
@Donna I totally felt sorry for her now I’m like ?
It is in my top 5 of favorite books.
Same here! Until the halfway point I was eh about it! The second half is nuts!
Have you screamed and thrown the book yet?
@Deanna nope not yet.
I read this on a beach vacation a few years ago. I drove my husband crazy with my commentary of it. I actually did like the book and we both enjoyed the movie. The book is better, of course.
The one book where I loathed the characters but enjoyed the book.
It gets better
Yep!
I loved that book…. it’s rare that a book surprises me – that one did!
Couldn’t get into it til after about 100 pages, almost quit it, glad I didn’t!
So I just finished it and now I’m incredibly angry. Like why, just why did she end it that way?! I need to reread my favorite series to cool down because I’m pissed.
@Courtney I read it several years ago and I’m still traumatized over the ending. ?
@Courtney I loved the ending ?
That’s what I thought ! I was so mad at the ending and felt like I wasted my time !
It’s definitely a book that met my wall at the end.
I loved it and the other books she’s written!
I liked Sharp Objects better than Gone Girl. Dark Places was just so sad! ?
They’re both psycho!
Yup. And he shouldn’t have cheated on her.
I so wish she would write another book, loved all three.
I liked Amy. She is a little over the top “but it’s sooo necessary”
Took my husband to see the movie after I had read the book. He was quite surprised!
Same. Except after the movie my husband said quietly… she kind of reminds me of you ???
I loved it…keeps you thinking
I HATED the ending!!!!
I loved it, and all of her writing. Guess I’m crazy ?
loved it!!
Yup.
Yep!
And he’s one weak assed mofo
I loved that book! I loved Dark Places by Gillian Flynn even more!
Amy was an interesting creation for sure. I did not care for Rosamund Pike’s version in the movie. Oddly enough, as I read Nick in the book, from the very first page I thought, “This loser is totally a Ben Affleck type.’
Along that line, check out Amy Adams in the Sharp Objects miniseries. She will blow your mind.
