Kindle. My husband was die hard nook fan until I bought a kindle voyage. Now he has a kindle voyage too and his nook hasn’t seen the light of day in…probably 2 years

Having owned a nook before, I definitely agree. They are not made as well as the kindle nor do they function as well. Plus, I just don’t trust the future of BN right now. ?

I have booth nook glow light and kindle oasis. I like them both but find myself using the kindle more. I feel is a little more user friendly

Kindle…consider how B&N is doing and their market longevity vs. Amazon

That’s a good point, isn’t BnN for sale? I thought I read somewhere something. The device itself is not bad is actually prettier. I have a white one with some gold color edges but still I use my oasis more and currently buy off amazon

Jess

@Marlene Yes, it seems to not be in good shape financially. I’ve had both for about 5 years now, and I definitely use my Kindle more. I couldn’t even tell you the last time I charged my Nook

I love my Nook S2 and my Kindle. I recommend always getting one with some sort of screen light. The tablets are built in and have a screen like your phone and eReaders need a backlight so Paperwhite or plus. I personally don’t like nook glowlight or kindle fire for reading. The fire I had a tough time figuring out where to open the book I was reading.

Tablet pros
– different colored highlights (think book club, talking points, plot points, funny parts, themes)
– access to different apps. Like messenger to send a quick message when the character drank a cup of milk that reminded you that you need milk ?)
– (with Google Play or iPad mini with App Store) you can read books from 3 different market places to organize your collection, get the best price.

– eReaders
Battery last much longer
Doesn’t glare in sun

I might upgrade to the new Paperwhite because of the waterproof option and most of when I use my kindle is by water.

You know thats a hard question because I like my Samsung Nook, but they are constantly threatening to go out of business. The Kindle you can dl the Nook app on, so you can actually have access to both book places.

Nook. Barnes and Nobles offers more books. It automatically updates it’s software, so you dont have to keep buying a new Nook. I love my Nook

Tablet and install the Nook and Kindle apps. ? Allows for greater flexibility and functionality than a stand alone ereader, and has better hardware.

Definitely Kindle. Book you can only download B&N books but with kindle you can download library digital books. I’m so glad I switched from Nook to a Kindle.

@Heather you can download library books with a Nook, its just a different process. It’s a hassle, but can be done.

I prefer my Nook Glowlight. My girl’s have Kindles and I don’t find it as user friendly personally. If you have a Barnes and Noble bear you, they have the Nooks out on display to try out. Plus, with a Nook you get an hour of free reading time every day for any Nook Book available when you are at a B&N store and connected to their WiFi.

B&N is having financial difficulty so if they go under like Borders did, what would that mean for Nook? I’ve had my Kindle for 10 years. I’ve never had to update it but all I do with it is download and read books.

I use the Kindle app on my iPad for mostly giveaways. The majority of ebooks I buy are through Apple Books.

KINDLE. Nook currently doesn’t have any support from Overdrive (and they will not be supporting it anymore; this is the program that lets you borrow books from libraries). They pulled support last fall (which led to my switch to Kindle, I’d had Nooks for 7 years before I got the Kindle). B&N is also slowly pulling from supporting the Nook and any future developments because of the Kindle’s success (among other ereaders like Kobo) and they have said that they will not be releasing any newer or updated models in the future.

Kindle has much more to offer, a better interface than Nook ever had, and the deals on Amazon are amazing. I’ve got 100+ books unread on my Kindle, all of which were either free or bought on an amazing sale.
