Ok. I’m on page 175 of The Husband’s Secret. At what point do I just give up? It’s doing nothing for me.

When you realize it’s doing nothing for you is my thought. I think 175 pages is quite enough, and a more than fair shake for the book. Don’t waste time forcing something you’re not enjoying. ?

LOL Thanks. I just know that sometimes you have to give it a bit together all of the background information but I kept thinking “are we there yet? Are we there yet “?

I hear you! I’ve been running into those a lot here lately….. Life’s too short for uninteresting books!

I agree. 175 pages is more than I’d have given it! I’m sorry!

It’s ok. I at least tried.

It’s definately pretty slow getting into. But I liked the ending. It was a sad book. You find out how all the characters are connected in the end.

Well crap. Now I might just HAVE to finish it for curiosity sake.

Haha yeah I would say it’s worth it for the ending. I can’t say it’s one of my favorites but I did enjoy it and was glad I didn’t give up on it.

I agree with this. Had not idea it would all be connected that way.

Too many books to read to waste your time on one you’re not enjoying!

I hate when that happens. Once I’m into a book I feel committed, even if it’s just boring.

My Mama used to do that…she’d suffer through a book until the last page…I finally convinced her there’s just not enough time to keep reading a book that you are having to struggle through…if you aren’t liking it put it down…I tried to do that some myself but just can’t force myself to do it….have too many books to read to waste the time.. 😉

I used to read until finished… then I realized it would just make me unhappy… frustrated, etc. I gave that up because reading is my happy time! Why not make it anything but those things!

Ok. I read 75 more pages. I can’t do it. So, I cheated and read the end to find out what happens. That’s what I was kind of figuring all along. Thanks ladies.

A few months ago before I ever heard of this book I saw it at the used bookstore and just the title turned me off!

I never give up on books no matter how boring they are at first because I’ve had too much experience in books that are unbearable in the first few chapters but turned out to be really amazing and interesting in the middle. Some of it are even my all-time favorites. But ofcourse, that’s just me?

Like I said, I gave it 250 pages. That was half of the book.

And it was still boring? Wow, that book deserves an award? Lucky, I haven’t encounter books like that yet!

I haven’t encountered many that lost my attention.

I think the only book that annoyed me from the first page to the last was The Catcher in the Rye

Cindy

It was very predictable.
