Ok. Because of all the rave reviews On Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine, I suggested it for book club. On page 25. PLEASE tell me it gets better?

For me it definitely got better!
It will!
It definitely gets better! This is mentioned frequently. It is such a surprising book, but you absolutely must read close to the end to understand the arc. So please keep reading.
I loved it!
It does. I almost put it down several times, but I really enjoyed in the end.
@Susan same here.
I felt the same way, but kept reading. I was so glad I did, it gets so much better!
Can’t.
I gave up & returned it to Audible for a refund.
I couldn’t get into it all
Not a good book to listen to on Audible. I think I may have missed the plot.
I thought it was terrific. It is about healing from trauma. And Eleanor is a quirkly delight – but maybe not for everyone.
I just read this on Friday. I was hooked from page one, but it isn’t a happy book. Hard to describe. I laughed sometimes, but it was a sad story in a way. I enjoyed being in her head though.
I too am finding it difficult to get into.
It is an awesome read! Hang in there
Not my favorite ?
I loved it ?
sure does
It took me about 2/3 to 3/4 in before I started liking it!!!
Renee Howard Cassese it was a book club read so I felt I had to finish it!
This is such a different and wonderful book. Eleanor is someone that others look down upon because of her quirkiness… but she amazes with her efforts, despite the cards that she has been dealt. I loved seeing her succeed at her job, and in her friendships. There is a lesson there for us all… to be kind and less judgmental… as we never know what someone is dealing with.
Oh girl.. lol I just read it and almost threw it.. but it got better!
It does get better. I listened too the audiobook, and I honestly thought I was going to abandon it. I kept listening, and then I was hooked. It’s one of those books I want to go back and read/listen to again with fresh eyes/ears. So much was explained at the end… it was all tied together and I felt I “got” her so much more. I do believe it might have to be revisted soon.
Stick w it to the end!
Some people loved it, others did not. I thought it was great! It’s definitely different!
I couldn’t finish it
It didn’t for me…
I loved it. So my answer is yes
I loved it too. She is quirky ~
Gets SO much better!
It does! Stick with it. I really enjoyed it!
I persevered. Wish i hadn’t. I won’t ever get that time back
Everyone says it gets better. I didn’t care for it.
Love it. – keep reading!,
I ended up loving it. But it’s OK if YOU don’t.
Thought the same… but really ended up liking it
Just keep reading. I almost gave up, but worth the perseverience. Wish there was more.
It does
I abandoned it at about the point you’re at now.
I loved it, but we all have different tastes.
Nope!
I thought it was a good book. Not a great book, but one worth talking about. Understanding the Eleanor’s of our world is important and I found it a good book for building empathy.
Oh yes
Yes. Keep going!
It does get better.
Great book
I couldn’t get through it
I loved it from the start!
I think it’s an acquired taste. I wasn’t a fan. Ended up DNF the book
It took awhile for me to get hooked but I really liked it & will probably read it again.
Loved that book! Keep reading ?
I loved it, too. Hang in there.
Did not understand all the hype!
Wow it’s one of the best books I’ve read this year.
I wasn’t a fan I’m afraid!
I loves that book and recommended it for our book club. We had a great discussion on loneliness in present day society. Great read!
For me after ch3 is when it got better. Hope that helps.
It had me from page 1, I loved Eleanor!
I’m glad to see I’m not the only one who wondered what the hype was about… It wasn’t bad, but not not great. So no, if you are not hooked by p25. Put it down
Gave up on it,bored.?
Really enjoyed it
Keep reading.;)
I thought the same thing, started off not liking it at all and it never got better for me. A very boring book.
Thank you ladies. You convinced me. I will try to stick to it. Will let you know how the book club received it next month. ?
I liked it but I listened on audible so maybe it was better.. the reader was amazing!
it was one of those books I liked better in retrospect then at the time I was reading it. My granddaughter had recommended it. sometimes that’s the way it works for me with a book I’m not too sure about.. it’s after I’ve finished that I come to appreciate it.. I know I’m weird. Ha ha
No but I read it all
I enjoyed it!
LOVED This book
It IS different. It’s sad and funny and poignant—all at the same time. And the writing is superb—but It’s okay if you don’t like it!! Different strokes for different folks!
I really loved it.
It definitely gets better ?
Keep going.
No it does not
Yes it does. I had a terrible time until after Chapter 9! Loved it!!
@Susan Thank you!
Loved it. Also loved Deception by Maggie Belvoir
I enjoyed reading it. Loved the bar scene. 🙂
Loved it I can’t wait for the movie
@Irene Movie?
@Sue yes I had read somewhere that Reese Witherspoon was interested in the rights to produce
I wasn’t wowed but it was readable.
I read it but was not one of my favorites
It does get better. I struggled with the first few chapters. Now I cant put it down.
I put it down
If I have to slog through 9.chapters before it gets good I’m probably not going in. That said, opinions vary, a library copy is no risk.
No.
