Harris is brilliant. These are some of the most colorful novels, in terms of characters, story-lines, and prose that I have ever read.

I have to admit that this is one of the rare times where, for me, the show was better than the books! I just could not get into them!

Which one did you experience first?

@Chris Good question! I’m not entirely sure (it was a while ago) If I had to guess, I probably saw a few episodes of the show first and then read the book!

That would have been my guess. For me, the show was a disappointment – I read the books first!

I loved the books and the show but I head to separate it in my head for it to work. It took awhile.

I thought Sookie’s TV character was a horribly unfortunate interpretation of the book character. Not Paquin’s fault; mostly the writing and directing.

I liked the first few seasons of the show but felt it was pretty awful by season 4. I didnt even finish the last season. But I love the book series!

I was a big fan right up til the last book. That one was a major rip off. OK I will admit I am a cheapo but paying 15 for a book that had one sentence per page really burned me.

Loved the books! Agree the last was disappointing.
