A Noise Downstairs by Linwood Barclay, some of his other books are also great, some are psychological thrillers some aren’t. The Promise Falls Trilogy is my absolute favorite and Trust Your Eyes is what got me hooked on reading his work!

LeslieQuestion author

@Kensley every one on this site recommends him
He must be really good. Is A Noise Downstairs a good one to start with?

0
Kensley

@Leslie yes! It is his most recently released novel. I highly recommend it, I read it in about 2 days. The Promise Falls trilogy has 4 books and a novella (Final Assignment). I read the first 3 books in about 5 days. I am about to read the last book, and the novella I read in a very short amount of time in one day. All of his books are good, though, those are just my favorites. His writing sucks you in and I haven’t read a book of his that I didn’t like.

@Kensley Thank you so much

This question is perfect for me to answer! The death of Mrs Westaway by Ruth Ware, any mo Hayder book but especially the Devil of Nanking. If you can tolerate a bit of horror try hex by Thomas Olde heuveldt and the outsider by Stephen king. All of Gillian Flynn’s books. Sharon (also goes by S.J.) Bolton’s books especially her first 3 books: sacrifice, awakening, and blood harvest. Also her books daisy in chains and little black lies. Odd Thomas series by Dean koontz. A Noise Downstairs by Linwood Barclay. The last time I lied and final girls by Riley Sager. Joyland by Stephen King. The Storm King by Brendan Duffy. All of the books by Wendy Webb.

My question is this…Why set a limit of how many books you read per year? And why stress over not meeting the quota you set for yourself? I read for me when I can and don’t worry about how many I read a year. I personally think this idea is silly. It should be about your move of reading and not about some silly quota you set for yourself.

25 in 6 weeks? What’s the rush?

0

4 a week. Doable but I feel like it’s a rush for those types of books. I usually have to take a break with a fluff read after a dark read.

@Debra m, I get that. I also have to alternate light and dark.
