A Mother’s Promise or The Secrets of Midwives as well! She is one of my favorite authors!

1
Bec

@Amanda I have the mothers promise in my TBR pile. Was the secrets of midwives good ? I wasn’t sure about that one based on the description.

0
Amanda

@Bec I’ve read all 4 of her books, and Promise was my favorite, Midwives a close second. Both just excellent!! I’m really looking forward to The Mother in Law, her new one coming out later this month!

1
Bec

@Amanda thanks for the advice. Her most recent book is out already here in Australia, I keep meaning to buy it.

@Bec, you’re welcome! You’re lucky, we always have to wait longer for her releases here in the US!

Hush, Swing, Hush isn’t just about the relationship, but the main character is a divorced mom with an eleven-year-old boy who has Asperger’s. The relationship of mother and child is touched on throughout the novel.

My book club just read Educated. It’s more of a family dynamic, but there are plenty of things to discuss about the mother/child dynamic. If you’re looking for more humorous, the #imomsohard ladies just released a book. I haven’t read it yet, but I love their videos.

The Queen of Bloody Everything by Joanna Nadin, The Memory Box by Margaret Forster, an Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine, although not immediately obvious as a mother daughter relationship, becomes more so as the story reaches its climax.

It depends on whether you want a loving mother/daughter relationship or a contentious one? My autobiography, “GUIDED,” won the Int’l Body-Mind-Spirit Book Award and is a harrowing story of coming into this life in the early 1950s unwanted, unloved, and abused physically, emotionally, and psychologically for the first 16 years of my life, I escaped that toxic family environment with nothing, and by age 19, I became a successful architect, home designer, home builder, and owned the 3rd-largest construction company in northern CA – all without one bit of formal education. It was only divine intervention that allowed me to become a self-taught business phenomenon in a man’s world by the early 1970s. It also reads like a suspense novel, as the underlying story is about my family hiding all the sinister secrets from their past that I didn’t find out about until I was 55 years old. Spoiler alert!… My husband likes to say GUIDED is a love story too because, in Part 4 of the book, I meet him and live happily-ever-after! Here’s a series of Video trailers for the first 8 Chapters of my life story… Enjoy! – and GUIDED is very popular with book clubs. https://bit.ly/2xxTRzN
