How about All the Light we cannot see by Anthony doerr? Or the Zookeeper’s Wife, or Little Bee by Chris cleave? And if you somehow missed it, Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd is amazing.
I just ordered it fromAmazon and read it last month. Apparently, there are three volumes. I read volume one and absolutely loved it. I plan on reading the other volumes eventually.
It is hard to recommend books if you don’t know someone’s taste. I always give gift cards to my local independent bookstore to people as gifts. I love anything by Barbara Kingsolver, Celia Ahern, Amy Tan, Lisa See and Alice Hoffman. I also love Pat Conroy, Anne Rivers Siddons and the Number 1 Ladies Detective Agency series by Alexander McCall Smith.
Here are some other favorites I have read: Pamela Callow – Damaged; Blake Pierce – Trace of Death; Angela Marsons – Lost Girls; Twenty-Eight and a Half Reasons – Denise Grover Swank; Angela Marsons – Evil Games; Angela Marsons – Silent Scream; Kristina McMorris – The Edge of Lost; Rochelle Weinstein- the Mourning After; Alex Lake – After Anna; George Wier – The Last Call; Mary T. Bradford – My Husbands Sin; Liane Moriarty – The Husband’s Secret… Hope that gives you a start!!! 😉

@Julia read two of them. The other two are too sad?
I’m guessing Little Bee and Zookeeper’s Wife are the sad ones? Let me think. How about Remarkable Creatures or Fallen Angels by Tracy Chevalier?
