The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down by Anne Fadiman was so good. The Rules Do Not Apply by Ariel Levy is not a bad read.

The Electric Woman by Tessa Fontaine: woman who literally ran away to the last ‘freakshow’ in the US to deal with her mother’s terminal illness. Heart-wrenching.

This is a novel written about a real person – Circling the Sun by Paula McLain. It’s about Beryl Markham, the first woman to fly the Atlantic. It’s a wonderful book about the early part of her life in Kenya in the 1930’s.
