Bridge to Terabithia, Walk Two Moons, Number the Stars, Homecoming, and Dicey’s Song. They’re more YA but more on the younger side of YA, so I still consider that in the realm of children’s books.

I’m shocked that no one has said The Polar Express! Every time I read it to little ones I get choked up on the last page when he says he still hears the bell ring ? maybe I’m just sensitive
