Elves by James Barclays. I just could not get into his writing style at all and put it down after 60 odd pages.

Yep I was really looking forward to it, but man it was a struggle. Still it weirdly led me onto reading Robin Hobb, so something good came out of it ?

Is this a reoccurring problem for Terry Goodkind?

Tony

Could be.
Second book in the series, she s carried the same sword on the cover, lol

And also on the back of the book Marion Zimmer Bradley had this rave review quote about the novel almost comparing it to Tolkien. I love Bradley and great artwork and a good backing by a great author is what convinced me to buy it when it was first published in hardback.

Between the Sea and Sky. Such a promising title too. Also, My Sister Sif. The setting was something I really wanted to see more of but it was just too unnecessarily sad

@Hailey Neuromancer is good. It’s a very fast paced book and the writing, although unique, won’t be everyone’s cup of tea. It’s one of those books that if you blink for a second you’ll lose what’s happening.

Eddings the Elenium. Absolute generic trash

Hows about the opposite? Books with terrible covers which turned out amazing?

Knife of Dreams is worse imo. Shadar Logoth looks kinda cool

Nazli

I would have thought Shadar Logoth was cool too if I wasn’t distracted by the Neanderthal contortionist boxer who skipped leg day standing in front of it…

I was like 12. This book is about an impossibly powerful kid who can do anything also the chapters are about a page long each (Patterson’s signature style) but it was so garbage I couldn’t believe it

Game of Thrones.
Something by Anne Bishop (sorry – I’ve forgotten the title, but it was the first of the Black Jewels books).

@Zoe oh really?! I just found she chucked a load of science jargon in that didn’t need to be there? It was a good few years ago I read it so maybe I need to give it another bash haha!! I still have it because…ya know, its pretty ?.
