I am getting up there. My kids read, but we have different tastes and I need to start getting rid of some books. What do you do to get rid of them?

In my community we have tiny free libraries placed thru out the town. I place my unwanted books there…I’ve also picked out a book or two there as well.

Tiny free libraries or used book stores. We have one that gives you book credit, half off their used books.

I donate to the Veterans Home, the library, and the hospital gift shop has a bookshelf for visitors/patient families, as I work there I bring quite a few there.

Give away, to friends, donate to library. Sell to Half Price Books, then buy more!

Donate them wherever there’s a need. I never take money for them. Too many people in the world who would love to read a book and either can’t afford to buy or who have limited access to them.

There are sites online where you can trade in your books for points, and use the points to get other books.

Donate to library, they will sell what they don’t keep. And I’ve seen coffee shops where people drop off books for other people to pick up.

I started a book swap/lending library at work. Everyone brings the books they’ve read or don’t need and they are free to take what they like.

I donate them to one of the local charity bookshops. But I only get rid of ones I think I am not going to read again.

In our area there are charity book sales that accept donations. American association of university women has one in our small town and Planned Parenthood hosts one in Des Moines. Perhaps something similar in your area?

We have this thing called the little free library at one of the gas stations in town (it’s an old phone box that’s been gutted lol) and I usually give all of my books to it

Well, I think I will take a load of books to the women‘s prison when we drive past there later in the month. And I will take a bunch to the local VA hospital. And put a couple of boxes of mysteries out i front and say… Free

Take them to the public library. Their Friends of the Public Library will offer them for sale at a book sale. All proceeds will go to buy new books for the library. You will be doing good TWICE! Set your books free! Let them do good in the wild!

I had my Dad help me build a neighborhood library. It now has a sign hanging from it that my husband made as well. Everyone uses it and I’ve met so many wonderful people because of it. We find stuff to read in there too! p.s. Forgive my gardens… They are a work in progress. The people before us did nothing to care for them!
