My absolute FAVORITE book is “Catcher in the Rye”. Any other Catcher fans (or like myself, fanatics) out there?

Yes my FAVOURITE book ever……Reread it every year and love it more each time ..
Astonishingly wonderful …
@Sue I’ve never encountered anyone who reads it as frequently as you! I reread it all the time!
It’s a fantastic book. I’ve read it years ago and I’ve always through I should reread it
@Qamar I’ve heard it’s a totally different book when you read it again after several years.
I’m reading it right now. I was going to try to finish it in the next 3 says so I could have finished it in March, along with A Tale of Two cities and A Prayer for Owen Meaney and then I thought, what, am I crazy? I love this book. I love reading every sentence. It’s as delicious as dessert but as nutritional as vegetables and fruit. So I didn’t even read any of it tonight. Instead, Dolores Claiborne, Setting Free the Bears and Notes on Matthew.
@Robert fantastic description of it!!!! And Tale of Two Cities is another favorite of mine!
I’m reading it now. I have just a few chapters left. I really enjoyed it. It’s a great book.
@Andra the last chapters are some of the best!
I’m starting it now, in my native language (Italian). It’s curious that we couldn’t find a good translation of the title, and in Italy is published as “The young Holden” (Il giovane Holden).
@Chiara that is super cool!!!
Nice one
It’s not my favorite but I do love it!
Read it a few months ago. I didn’t read it in high school. But the teenage angst still resonated with me. Good book!
Not my favorite, but loved it. I find it is an either love it or hate it book. I read for the first time in HS and I think Holden is identifiable to a teen, maybe as an adult reader he is annoying or rude…
@Colette that makes so much sense! Teens relate to teens, while adults can recognize the naivety, immaturity, and ignorance of teenage years.
@Matt this is the best response ever…
Phony ?
@Sean ah, but I do indeed keep my kings in the back row…
@Liz Holden’s a memorable character
I think that JD Salinger wrote excellently about the struggles of teenagers becoming a grown up (real or imagined. ) As a Bildungsroman this will always be the ONE for me.❤️
I really, really, really need to reread this book again! <3
I never like the Catcher in the Rye. My favs are The Jungle, So Big, Giant and Look Homeward Angel.. All are American classics.
I always thought of Holden as a wealk Winnie.
Loved it !!! will put it on my Read again stack
yes And I will read it again this summer!
