I never see anyone talk about these books! I have the series but have yet to read them. I read Whispers and the Roars by K Webster and that was something else!! Lol
@Danny scared of the nightmares…..I love a good thriller book, but can’t watch a scary movie….my husband makes fun of me because I love to watch Dateline….he said ” you won’t watch a scary movie, but you’ll watch all these stories of real people getting murdered” LOL
Cheryl Woods Childs omg you sound exactly like me and my family says the same. They watch shows like Saw but my grown son refuses to visit if Dateline is on. He says that’s way scarier bc it’s real life and totally creeps him out.
That’s hard. I read a lot of twisted books ? The Girl Next Door is pretty messed up, moreso because it’s based on true events. There’s also a book called Sick Fux by Tillie Cole. Marketed as a “dark romance”. Uhh…yeah…to say the least!!
The Family.Next Door, by Sally Hepworth , is not a thriller, but it is a mystery. I plan on re-reading this book to refresh myself about the facts.
One topic that comes up fairly late in.the novel is homosexuality. The main character, female , is sexually attracted to her new neighbor, another woman.
That’s OK until the main character finds out her new attraction is really her lost sister.
This now starts to sound like incest. (This condition goes by a different name which I can’t remember).
Anyway, the main character now realizes she isn’t gay and that her love for her sister isn’t incest.
I’m still wondering about the implications of all this relative to the nature of homosexuality. So i shall re-read the entire book.
@Cheryl It didn’t give me nightmares, thank god! But, I couldn’t read anything for, like, two weeks after because I just couldn’t get that twisted story out of my head! It’s sooooo worth it, though!
@Audri Thank you….I really want to read it!!! And if it’s super scary I know I can stop reading LOL.. but it’s not like you can unread what you’ve already read or erase it from your mind ?
A lot of good ones have been mentioned already, it’s my favorite genre! I’m currently reading “are you sleeping” there’s also the perfect nanny Girls in the garden Bonfire Her every fear The chalk man Best day ever Under the harrow The widowers wife The woman in the window The ice twins The dry Good as gone The magpie murders A simple favor Final girls Stranger in the house One of us is lying You will know me Roanoke girls (this one messed me up) The trap The girl before Everything you want me to be After Anna The bones of you I let you go Before I go to sleep
I didn’t mind it as much as a few others but it definitely lacked at the end. The widowers wife kinda does too those are not the best on that list but they’re not bad. They are what I’ve read the past year so far
Did you know before I go to sleep is a movie? With Nicole Kidman! I never knew! That twist is good too. And yeah girl before seemed almost surreal to me with the way the house is, I liked it but it’s very abstract
Omg. This has never happened to me before. I’m reading tell.me.im wrong. By Adam croft. I read a shocking ending paragraph with tears in my eyes for the female character. I HAD TO PUT THE BOOK DOWN. I will attempt to read on. Obviously a must read. Not before bedtime
