John Saul: Second Child. Nightshade. King: The Shining. The Mist. Under the Dome. Misery. Cujo. Jack Ketchum: The Girl Next Door Poppy Z Brite: Drawing Blood. Exquisite Corpse. Susan Hill: The Man in the Picture. The Small Hand.
These are the scariest books I can think of, but books don’t scare me, I think I’ve been desensitized haha
Dead Lake by Darcy Coates. It’s free on Prime reading. I am reading another book by her and it’s just as scary. I love scary books. Wendy Webb’s books are also really good.
Kevin O’Brien books some James Patterson maybe Linwood Barclay (you have to get into them)- I wouldn’t classify his as super scary. They are all thrillers. But really good Mark furhman‘s a murder in greenwich
Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child’s Novels, especially their first 3 Pendergast novels (Relic, Reliquary, and Cabinet of Curiosities) have decent horror with a slight supernatural feel to it. Kinda like what would happen if CSI met the Twilight Zone.
And if you don’t mind books for the ah… younger versions. One of my childhood favourites are the Tom Ward Series books The Last Apprentice.
The Ruins
Disturbing!
Daughters unto Devils scared me!
Intensity by Dean Koontz was the scariest book I have read.
OK thank you, I’m going to look into these : )
Bird Box
Oh yeah! This is a great one.
@Ashley, I read it straight through in a day. (Bye-bye, plans!) ?
Me too. Movie August I think
Oops. I lied. It’s still in production.
Heart Shaped Box

Definitely the shining
@Katy
Yes, John Saul’s books. I read most of them. The Unloved was a good one for starters, but they are all good.
The summer I died- Ryan c Thomas
The last days of Jack Sparks
Peter Straub’s Ghost Story. That and The Stand by Stephen King.
Head Full of Ghosts
It’s a manga but Uzumaki is really great
Dead Lake by Darcy Coates. It’s free on Prime reading. I am reading another book by her and it’s just as scary. I love scary books. Wendy Webb’s books are also really good.
The Picture of Dorian Gray is also excellent. It’s not really scary all the way through but I found this understated horror very effective
Kevin O’Brien books some James Patterson maybe Linwood Barclay (you have to get into them)- I wouldn’t classify his as super scary.
They are all thrillers. But really good
Mark furhman‘s a murder in greenwich
The Barter by Siobhan Adcock
HP Lovecraft … Read Call of Cthulhu and other of his hair-raising tales.
I think Lovecraft is repetitive. All the stories are the same. Chuck Pahlaniak is creepy more than scary. Stephen King’s It or Carrie do it for me.
House of Leaves
I loved this one.

Bird Box by Josh Malerman, Suffer the Children by Craig DiLouie, Heart-Shaped Box by Joe Hill
Checking some of these too, thanks people
Restless
Fifty Shades of Grey is the only book that’s scared me in a long time. Honestly!! I couldn’t finish it.
Hehehehe
The Elementals
Needful things and the stand both by Stephen king
Stephen king any of his books
Hex by Thomas Olde Heuvelt is amazing and terrifying
Oooo! I have that one!
