Cathy Kelly is a great Irish writer. Maeve Binchy, of course. Patricia Scanlan. I also recommend Irish poetry and that you visit the Irish Writers Museum in Dublin. Lisa Carey’s The Mermaids Singing is a favorite of mine as well.

Galway is great. We have family there. Make sure to eat the fish-and-chips at McDonough’s. Also, if you have time, the Aran Islands are amazing to visit.

I really enjoyed it! I also went to several bookshops while in Ireland and brought back an entire suitcase of books (had to buy it over there after the book purchases) and I found authors who aren’t published here, but I can find their other books on Amazon Marketplace.
I loved loved loved Dingle. But I pretty much loved loved loved everywhere we went there! Enjoy your trip!

If you like mystery check out Tana French – all her books are amazing. There’s also a book called Ireland by Frank Delaney, I think – it’s a slow read, but includes a lot of the legends of Ireland and it’s pretty interesting.
