Mildred In Disguise, With Diamonds Fiction/crime/humor Mildred expected a comfortable retirement. But when her husband died, his secrets changed everything. She doesn’t have the luxury of a graceful old age, she takes the job the casino offers-undercover security.
Almost anything by Christopher Moore will fit the bill. A Dirty Job, Fool, and Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ’s Childhood Friend are personal favorites.
Try Georgette Heyer’s Sylvester, Just Like Heaven by Julia Quinn, Can You Keep A Secret? by Sophie Kinsella, Neighbor from Hell series by RL Mathewson and RS Grey’s books
If you like paranormal you can try Nocturne Falls by Kristen Painter. Amanda M. Lee has a several series out that are funny–Wicked Witches of the Midwest and Aisling Grimlock for starters. You have to like her kind of snark though 🙂
I love cozies, but not all of them are humorous. Julie Moffett writes Lexi Carmichael series which is great, Julie Mulhern writes the Country Club series and Annette Dashofy writes the Zoe Chambers series. All of them are really good. Along with Kate Carlisle’s Bibliophile series.
@Ash one of the chapters deals with the ridiculous descriptions that restaurants come up with for their food. I’ve never looked at menus the same way since. So, so funny…
Do you like sci-fi and fantasy or mysteries? Cuz Robert Asprin, Steven Brust, Harry Harrison, and lillian Jackson are my go to for funny books. She writes the cat who series.
Three Men in a Boat by Jerome K Jerome, Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll, G K Chesterton’s essays (and his Father Brown stories are very funny in places too.)
The Virgin Romance Novelist by Meaghan Quinn had me laughing so hard I kept waking my husband when I read it in bed. Also Pucked by Helena Hunting had me laughing out loud. Both are rom/com’s and books I’ve reread.
You should try the Stefanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich! There are almost 30 of them so far in the series. They are very funny. The first is called One for the Money.
