I didn’t really read from 2013-2015. I was dealing with a lot of anxiety and other issues and I couldn’t concentrate and I wasn’t inspired by anything in my TBR pile. I made up for it in 2016/2017 ?

I didn’t read much until I was 16. I read HP when I was 13(2007), and that was all I’d read until I read Twilight in late 2008(around the time the movie came out) I read a bit more after that, but my real love for reading started after finishing the Percy Jackson series in 2011, so I’ve only been an avid reader for about 6 years now. The worst slump I’ve been in since becoming an avid reader has been going on for a year now, but it seems like I’m finally getting out of it!

College. 2010 – 2013 I didn’t really read. 2014 was when I really started reading again.

YEARS! Twilight ruined me for so long. I refused to believe I’d find other books entertaining after those

Still in it. Since I started college in 2015 I’ve just never felt I had the time and when I do have time I feel like I should be using to be productive in some other way related to school.

I’m sure you can squeeze it in. Even if it means cutting out an hour of tv a week or maybe a few hours. Or maybe audio books while ur doing boring chores ?

Did u get out of it?

Sort of. I’m picking up a couple books here and there. But its taking me forever to get through them… it used to take me like 2 days to breeze through a book.

I just got back into it this month. Been reading quick reads, less then 400 pages. Most contemporary I’ve read in my life but its helped somehow

Sometimes it’s good to start back up with easy reads!

mine was probably 2 years, right after i binge read the Divergent series with my sister. i know i’m of the minority here, but that series F’d me up ??? i loved it SO much that i didn’t think i’d ever love something so much again. i think it also had to do with what was going on in my personal life. i got some things figured out and taken care of, and now i’m the happiest i’ve ever been, book funk free!

I’ve been in and out of one for the past few months. I usually read anywhere from 10-20 books a month and I’m pretty sure I’ve read maybe 6 books in the 4 months. Serious reading slump for me! ?

A year and a half, after I had my son nothing held my interest at all but when my daughter was stillborn I got into reading again, I couldn’t read enough. Really helped me through the most horrendous part of my life

Right after graduating college with a degree in English. Had to read so much for school, I had nearly forgotten what it felt like to read for pleasure. Lasted nearly a year.

I’m in a slump now and don’t know how to get out of it. I’m trying readathons, buddy reads, and reading challenges and nothing’s working for me. I’m doomed.

Courtney

People keep going ahead of me in the buddy reads and it makes me more depressed and not want to read at all. It sucks so much.

Maybe read a short stand alone on your own. That’s what i did

1
Courtney

Thanks! I’ll give that a try.

Unless you count fanfiction, probably 4ish years. I got really into Wattpad maybe 5 years ago, and that was all I would read, and then from there, I got into fanfiction. Haven’t been TOO interested in real books since. Anyone have the same problem?

I didn’t read the entire time I was in college.. so 5 years. I just hated reading after so much studying. Then about 6 months after I graduated, I picked up a book and never looked back. I read several a week now.

6 years 🙁 My whole previous relationship, I had to do EVERYTHING for my daughter, which I don’t mind because I love her to death, however it left NO time for me to do the things I needed/wanted to do. I had to drop out of school, because there was no time for that. I had to leave work because there was no time for that, I had to stop reading my books because there was no time for that. 🙁
