Yes. Ann Rule is one of favorite authors. I was sad when she died. Any suggestions are great.

If you want a fictionalized story of true cases***FAIR WARNING, ONE OF THE VICTIMS WAS MY STEP FATHER– check out The Killing Road by Scott Fields. Without giving too much away, the perpetrator murdered multiple people in multiple states over a period of a couple of weeks. In some of the craziest twists and turns of life, I became friends with his “spiritual confessor” , the killers biological son, and the author of this book.

I am. I so loved Ann Rule. I haven’t found another author that pulls me in like she could. @Tammy I’m so sorry to hear that your stepfather was a victim of a serial killer. That is just awful.

Thank you MaryAnn. It’s something that I pray no one has to experience although I know it will happen. It’s been almost 36 years and I still find myself wanting to call him with news.

Helter Skelter is a standout, so is In Cold Blood which reads like a novel. Also try James Ellroy’s Black Dhalia.

I love the content of true crime (yes, I love the macabre), but I find most of the writing just not very good. Is there a really good true crime author out there?
