Just starting The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller. Anyone read this? Wondering if it’s close to the actual myth by Homer. Thank you so much.

It’s told from Achilles’ point of view, so I don’t think it truly gets to the myth part until about the second half when they go off to war.
Or rather Patroclus’ point of view
Megan Shumaker oh Patroclus, not actually Achilles cousin, but good movie device! That will make it more interesting, being told that way.
Did you enjoy it? My second choice is completely different Macbeth by No Nesbo.
@Michelle I really did enjoy it quite a lot. I even bought a copy for myself since I liked it so much. I think that if you’re looking into things that retell the myth as whole, this might not be what you’re looking for. However, it truly is a great read and I suggest it to a lot of people.
Sounds just right! Thank you very much!
I loved it, and think you’ll enjoy it @Michelle.
This book is beautiful! Absolutely heart wrenching.
This book is an amazingly gorgeously break-your-heart-but-love-it-anyway kind of book!
Loved this book. Just loved it.
let me know how it is please! it’s been on my TBR list for a while now ?
@Abby will do!
@Michelle thank you!
The author majored in the classics (such as myself hehehe) she did an AMAZING job in this retelling ???
How does this compare to Circe? Been curious about both books dont know much ancient history/mythology except for disney’s hercules…will this be a hinderance? Thanks.
I was wondering too @Katie! But Achilles first!
This is one of only three books that have ever made me cry… It’s amazing??
Oh. This is going to end in tears. I can just feel it coming. Excellent storytelling, plot true enough to the real myth (in my opinion) and anxiously thinking of what comes next – haven’t gotten a better in some time!
Finished just now. Very good. Had a little cry at the end. Worth it completely.
