I LOVED Jane Eyre. I have recently been on a Jane Austen reading blitz. This was by far my most enjoyable read

I love pride and prejudice by Austen, all her work is good but that’s my favourite.

Out of Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility, I preferred Sense and Sensibility by a fraction

Charlotte Bronte was the best of her kind, in my opinion.

I have to say I remain unconvinced by this one. Not the writing, more that I found Mr Rochester’s behaviour somewhat disturbing. She may have married him, but I have my doubts about the happiness of the marriage.

I loved Jane Eyre! It’s absolutely a page-turner. Once you start reading it you don’t want to put it down.

I’ve just started The Tenant of Wildfell Hall, by Anne Bronte. Somehow I’ve missed reading this third Bronte sister. Have read Jane Eyre many times, starting when I was 18. My take on Rochester has changed a bit over the years.

That’s an interesting observation, do you mind me asking how they’ve changed. I came to Jane Eyre for the first time in my 40s. I suspect the younger me would have had a different impression.

@Helen, yes…agree it’s very interesting to reread a book at different ages. I first read Jane Eyre as a teen. When I was younger I remember thinking Mr. Rochester was soooooooooo romantic! As I’ve read it through my life many times, my opinion of him has changed. I still find it an amazing read and enjoy it thoroughly every time I pick up the book.
