From every Sanderson post I’ve seen on here, you’re reading them out of order and missed 2,500 pages of backstory.
Actually, it’s very much in order, being his first book. It’s just often considered to be one of his”weaker” books.
It was a joke, because usually someone’s first response is something like this.

Honestly, the way people discuss Sanderson, I could believe someone would think that starting with Elantris is out of order…..
Elantris was his first book and it’s a stand alone but definitely one of his best
Elantris is a great place to start don’t worry it works as a stand-alone book but is connected to a much bigger picture is you like the author and want to get deeper into the story
I have this on my list too. What other books of his are they related too? Where should we start? I’ve only read the Mistborn books.
@Cora ok so the bigger picture is called the cosmere it’s a big picture that’s not even 1/2 way done but within the cosmere are:
Elantris
Warbreaker
Mistborn era 1
Mistborn era 2
Stormlight archives
And a few novellas too
I started with Mistborn era 1 and went from there but you can start in a number of places. I’ll see if I can find the image

@Cora welcome down the rabbit hole!!! It’s so good enjoy the journey. If you’ve read Mistborn I’d go with Elantris or Warbreaker next then onwards ??
Ssnderson took up 4 months of my life. You’ll be sad when you get done, they’re SO GOOD!
