I almost feel sorry for Bannon – he had no idea his words would come back to bite him – as evidenced by his groveling profession of love and loyalty for his president following the release. Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy! ???
The author is Michael Wolff and it is said he had unprecedented access to the White House. I ordered the book on Amazon Prime for a total price of about $22. I tried to reserve it at my library but they did not yet have it to even put on hold.
@Margaret Actually Michael Wolff has had many issues with most of his prior publications and their accuracy. In addition he did not have unprecedented access to the WH….What he actually had was access to Bannon, who was fired by Trump. Bannon’s claim to complete access to Trump is greatly exaggerated according to Trump, Trump’s staff and written records.
Funny, today’s article in the New Yorker Magazine gives high marks to Wolff’s accuracy and prior publications, Michael Bigelow. And his access to Steve Bannon, I think, was in the first six months of Trump’s occupation of the White House, before Bannon was terminated. This is the time period Wolff’s book covers–the first six months of the Trump administration.
Michael Bigelow I also have not heard anything to discredit him. And, it is documented that he contacted Trump directly and got his passes and credentials based on Trump’s permission. Can you provide citations to your sources?
I saw on the news that they have moved the release date to tomorrow instead of Monday, so maybe it will get to you earlier. 🙂 I am so interested to see what this book says!
Well, because I don’t live in US, I must ask something. It might be stupid question, but is this book that book, which Trump try to stop it go to public? Or I think how it was says to the news in here.
Because this, I hope that we in Finland can read it in English or in Finnish later. I must say that whole Trump case sounds interesting and well, when you live the near to Russia, it sounds even more interesting. ?
Well, maybe I buy it like ebook. It isn’t to me so big surprise to read books like that. I think I have too many books from Russia, the Soviet Union and Czar’ s Russia (Putin, Stalin, Romanovs etc) because I think those books help me understand to me and my roots and also the World and history of us because we have been part of Russia but also part of Sweden.
@Sari I admire your desire to read history. In my view, we can’t know where we’re going if we don’t know where we’ve been. As for this Fire & Fury book about the Trump White House in the first six months, I consider this more like contemporary history because it is so recent.
It might ne true. I have always like to read history. And not only because my family in my father’s side come to Russia. And history was my favorite school subject when I was in schools.
Somewhere I might also try to find book which will tell me how Trump was coming to president. It was quite big shock in here and even bigger when he start his job as the president. Before that even I think that maybe some day I worked in here or do my higher degrees in there. But there was also many things what I can’t understand but maybe books now or later will tell me what happend just after when he started as the President of USA.
Yes, Stalin’s Daughter is good book. I have it in my bookshelf in Finnish. But other interesting book was Red Notice. And I never thinking that the women can be so big part of dictator’s life. But book by Diane Ducret told for example how big part was even if you lover/husband etc was Stalin, Lenin, Mao or Bokassan.
@Sari , who’s the author of, Red Notice? I looked it up and, apparently, it’s a popular book title. I’d like to ad to my TBR list, on your recommendation.
@Sari I also do not understand how he became president and I’m an American. No political agenda here, he just seems a bit unbalanced and not very intelligent
Well well, it looks so interesting and not so expensive when I change the price for euros. (ebook seems to be about 15,5€). And it seems to be easier way to get the book, because it takes between 2 and 4weeks to come Finland if I choose hardcover. ?
Sandy and Bonnie, I’m confused here! Do you think that Donald Trump is receiving any profits from this book? Nothing could be further from the truth! His lawyers tried very hard to stop the publication of this book. Trump didn’t write it; he’s the subject of Michael Wolff’s expose’ on the first six months of Trumps presidential administration.
I’m thinking maybe I was a little too harsh replying to @Michelle… it felt like she made a back handed criticism of conservatives. I doubt that she would ever say the same sentence subbing conservative for another descriptive adjective about a different large group of people. It bears noting that our colleges and universities do tend to be bastions of leftism, and anybody on the right learns pretty quickly to keep a low profile. It’s too bad that it’s come to that, and that the general view of conservatives is that they’re dumb. Living in an echo chamber isn’t good for anyone… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MOWQbRt8FbY
Patty Osborne Welsh I never said that conservatives are dumb. I said serious readers skew liberal. This is because literary authors also skew liberal, as do artists, and yes, as you’ve mentioned, members of academia. I also said that that does not mean that there aren’t any well-read conservatives. I even use the sentence, “There are.” I never offered up any sort of assessment on the intelligence levels of neither liberals nor conservatives. And, yes, I would use that construction, subbing for other large groups of people and examples. “Highly-paid bankers tend to be men. That doesn’t mean that there aren’t any highly-paid female bankers. There are.” “Most readers of Middle Grade fiction are minors. That doesn’t mean there aren’t any adults who read Middle Grade. There are.” Neither of these examples are offensive to women or adults. Your assessment of academia, and the highly-opinionated link you provided, however, are unrelated to thread. And as a professor, I can say, that I absolutely do not share your opinion.
@Michelle I realize we’re off topic now, but it was your comment that raised my ire. You would never say, “not that there aren’t any well read blacks, or muslims, or women”…. but it’s OK to say that (without any evidence) about conservatives. Thereby, it feels like a backhanded criticism of most conservatives, insinuating that the majority of us are dumb. If you don’t read conservative literature (or watch video) then you will continue to hold that belief. It makes sense that you are a college professor, and seldom get such a reaction to a comment like the one you made.
Again, I never called anyone dumb. You jumped there on your own. Stating that I don’t read conservative literature or watch conservative videos is an assumption. And stating that I don’t ever get similar reactions to my option is an assumption. And assuming that because of my profession I don’t get exposed to a conservative viewpoint is not true.
As the originator of this thread I enjoyed the dialogue between Michelle Kouzmine and Patty Osborne Welsh because it remained so civilized. I wonder if this is because you’re women or because you may both be British. If this was an entirely American book club, this conversation would have devolved rather quickly into unprintable discourse. Such is the state of politics now in the U.S. And thus, the overwhelming response of folks who want to access Fire & Fury.
Lol! Not British! Quite American, actually. I credit the education that I am receiving alongside my home schooled children… I’m learning things I was never exposed to in college or graduate school, such as logic, confirmation bias, and logical fallacies. My children are actually learning how to think, not what to think, and it’s a wonderful(and challenging) process. But thank you for the compliment!
I’m interested in it, but a bit skeptical. I have heard in passing that the author is prone to exaggeration, so a bit more research into the author and their past works is required on my part before I spend my dollars on it.
I’ve heard that too…but I’ve also heard he has all the top white house people on tape saying all this stuff. So, maybe it’s not a case of exaggeration so much as the people he writes about SAY it is because it makes them look bad? IDK, I’m just putting this out there as more than possible.
❤️❤️❤️❤️
After seeing the comments on the BBC news website, think it’s going to be an interesting read ☺️
To say the least. It already has broken up the bromance between the president and Steve Bannon.
I almost feel sorry for Bannon – he had no idea his words would come back to bite him – as evidenced by his groveling profession of love and loyalty for his president following the release. Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy! ???
I would love to hear some “inside take” on what goes on there. Lol
I would just like an unbiased view; not an agenda view. Please let me know if this falls into that category,
The author is Michael Wolff and it is said he had unprecedented access to the White House. I ordered the book on Amazon Prime for a total price of about $22. I tried to reserve it at my library but they did not yet have it to even put on hold.

There are several reports of Wolff’s reporting not always being accurate. Here’s one from a site that is definitely not right leaning… https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2018/01/is-bannon-trump-michael-wolff-reporting-reliable.html
Tony Blair is flat out denying the story about him in the book, as well… http://www.newsweek.com/michael-wolffs-book-fake-news-771236
Katy Tur just posted a picture of one page. It was… yeah…
I also read Katy Tur’s book on her 18 month stint on the campaign trail with Trump.
Any good? I really like the women on MSNBC.
It was excellent, Sandy. Katy Tur’s a pro. Her book is pretty old news now but I’m sure you could still enjoy it.
I loved her book, too!
I second Katy’s book.
Me too!
I saw on the news that they have moved the release date to tomorrow instead of Monday, so maybe it will get to you earlier. 🙂 I am so interested to see what this book says!
Thanks for the tip, Nancy Altizer.
It’s release date has been moved up….to TOMORROW 1/5!!!!
Well, because I don’t live in US, I must ask something. It might be stupid question, but is this book that book, which Trump try to stop it go to public? Or I think how it was says to the news in here.
You’re correct. His lawyers tried to stop it from being published. They failed.

@Sari ebook ?
There are no stupid questions, Sari Koskinen, if they’re in earnest.

@Sari I just finished the autobiography, Stalin’s Daughter, and I have to say, WOW, what a story!
Red Notice was great, I agree!
@Sari , who’s the author of, Red Notice? I looked it up and, apparently, it’s a popular book title. I’d like to ad to my TBR list, on your recommendation.
The author is Bill Browder.
Oh, my goodness! Added to my TBR pile.
@Sari I also do not understand how he became president and I’m an American. No political agenda here, he just seems a bit unbalanced and not very intelligent
@Melissa he had a lot of help from Russia, unfortunately.
Well well, it looks so interesting and not so expensive when I change the price for euros. (ebook seems to be about 15,5€). And it seems to be easier way to get the book, because it takes between 2 and 4weeks to come Finland if I choose hardcover. ?
@Sari yikes!
I’ve ordered it, too.
I’m on the list at my library. I won’t give any of my money to that monster.
Who do you think is a monster? Trump granted access to the author, but will not receive any of the profits.
@Valerie. Im with you. As curious as I am about this book, I too am loath to contribute one dime to this racist’s coffers.
Not I
OK, I was just sort of confused with your adamant agreement with Bonnie’s statement, Sandy. Sorry.
He absolutely does not get anything from profits. He might try to sue for damages, however.
Yeah, he won’t win!??
??
Well, I choose to refrain from reading gossip and I will read the Bible instead… NOT!! I can’t wait to get my hands on that sucker!!
????

I’m reading the book now. I downloaded it on Kindle!! Thanks though. That was thoughtful and kind.♥️
Give a review when U finish, plze.
And I’m a Trump supporter. We can’t let the politics control us. ?
Definitely a topic that could go south in a hurry, so I’m proud of all of us too.
Well serious readers are more likely to skew liberal. That’s not to say that there aren’t any well-read conservatives. There are.
I am a well read Conservative! Not a big fan of Trump though.
@Patty
Serious readers are more likely to skew liberal? There goes the class, @Eileen!
I’m thinking maybe I was a little too harsh replying to @Michelle… it felt like she made a back handed criticism of conservatives. Insinuate = means that you didn’t actually say the thing, but the thing was implied.
the issue here is the wording “more likely to skew liberal…”, what is that based on?
As the originator of this thread I enjoyed the dialogue between Michelle Kouzmine and Patty Osborne Welsh because it remained so civilized. I wonder if this is because you’re women or because you may both be British. If this was an entirely American book club, this conversation would have devolved rather quickly into unprintable discourse. Such is the state of politics now in the U.S. And thus, the overwhelming response of folks who want to access Fire & Fury.
haha, @Patty is not only American, but originally from New Jersey! And she is my (much younger) sister, maybe I did a good job raising her?
Lol! Not British! Quite American, actually. @Margaret that is a terrible insinuation about the rest of us! I am an American proud of it and I am polite. I’m ITALIAN- AMERICAN and am polite even.
Sorry, Linda Davies.
@Margaret apology accepted. (I’m married to a Brit so I know what you mean, though.)
@Margaret p.s. I’m not really polite.
Me too! Can’t wait!!!!
I’m going to Kindle it at midnight. If I’m awake. Otherwise, at 6:00 am.
Too, too funny!
The release date for Fire & Fury has been moved up to Jan. 5.
THE BOOK IS DOWNLOADABLE ON KINDLE.
I’m interested in it, but a bit skeptical. I have heard in passing that the author is prone to exaggeration, so a bit more research into the author and their past works is required on my part before I spend my dollars on it.
Edited for clarity.
