I didn’t read it until I was 61. I loved it, and regretted that I didn’t read it when I was 13, after having had a course on the Civil Rights Movement.

Enjoy Watchers if that is what Koontz you are reading. That was my first Dean Koontz read many years ago, a great book. I read serious books but Dean is an amazing story teller.

Just starting The Terror, but will keep The Face in mind. Not that I really want to be freaked out.

What did you think of Uncle Tom’s Cabin? I did a major project on it in college about how much actual anti-slavery action was brought about by the novel (quite a bit).

Stowe has a great impact on the way that people thought about slavery, especially those in the North.

It’s about slavery and Tom who had to endure many hardships until his death

It’s a good read gives you an insight on how things were

of course, you need to remember that it is a product of the times and that it was written by a white woman. I enjoyed the stories written by Frederick Douglass more, because he lived it.

Miguel

James Baldwin great author also

Jacqueline

@Valerie Douglass was an excellent writer and, apparently, an incredible speaker. I’ve read his writings and enjoyed just the quality of the writing aside from the content.
