Okay, I would love to try this. Heard great things about it. I’ve been hesitant because I read another book by this author that I just didn’t enjoy. It’s all personal preference. Im just going to have to try it

Totally understand! There have been several books that I tried reading in the past weeks that everyone seemed to love, but I had to DNF them or I would have probably died. No shame in trying it out and then realizing you don’t like it. 🙂

Exactly. I wanted so badly to enjoy Britt Marie. I just couldn’t get into it
Yet everyone else loved it.

Perhaps reading Grandmother sends regards and apologises first gives you a better idea. Cause Britt-Marie is one of the side characters there. I personally love all Backman’s books but my father couldn’t get into the Grandmother book – didn’t like the fairytale element plus he didn’t understand Harry Potter references.

I actually listened to Britt-Marie on audiobook first and loved the accents. I also borrowed the book and skimmed back over after the audio. I’ve been doing this lately and am finding that it does make a difference in how I experience the book. Britt-Marie is one that I might not have liked as much if I hadn’t heard the characters first. But with a book like The Nightingale, I had to read it – I became totally immersed and listening was too slow.

That book was everything. That’s the true meaning of order meets chaos. He was the sweetest man ever
