@Carol you might like Rodzina by Karen Cushman. It’s children’s lit I know but I listened to the audio book with my daughter and we both (adults!) enjoyed it. =)
Is this true about the children that used to be put on trains in America and some people would meet the train on the way and take children in as foster kids?
I loved it!!
I loved it!
I really liked it.
I enjoyed it.
And the author also wrote “Orphan Train Girl” which is the young readers’ edition of Orphan Train.
I looked on good reads and there are at least 2 Orphan Trains. Which one?
Both by the same author? Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline is for adults. Orphan Train Girl is the YA version of the book by the same author.
Christine Kline or Charlene Oliver are both Orphan Train
Then there are two different The Orphan Trains as well and Orphan Train Girl by Kline.
I read the one by Christina Baker Kline.
But which did the OP read and is everyone commenting on different books?
I found it fascinating. I never heard of that and learned a lot!!

Great book!
Yes, loved it!
My apologies, I saw Orphan Train and thought Orphan’s Tale.
You didn’t like Orphan’s Tale?
I am sad I wasted my time on Orphan’s Tale, thankfully it was a library book so I didn’t waste $$
You should try Orphan Train then 🙂
I’ve read Orphan Train, it was OK
I keep determining but haven’t got there yet.
I absolutely LOVED that book!
Yes, very good book.
Loved it!
One of those books that even a year later, still sticks with me. Great book!
Yes, great book
Loved it too!
Loved that book, but find it so hard to believe what was done to those children.
Is this true about the children that used to be put on trains in America and some people would meet the train on the way and take children in as foster kids?
Yes it’s true. Between the 1850s and 1920s orphans were shipped from the big cities to rural communities.
Read the acknowledgements at the end of Orphan Train. Unless that is fiction, it’s true!
what author?
@Mary Christina Baker Kilne
Loved that one!!
Loved it and like all good books it sparked me to do more research so watched a documentary on PBS about the orphan trains…
So beautiful yet so heartbreaking
Loved her latest book too, A Piece of the World.
Adding it to my list… thanks
Great book!
