Just finished Grisham’s Camino Island – a fun quick read about the book business. What do you think?

Not my favorite, but always enjoy Grisham.
I really liked it, learned a lot about rare book/manuscript business.
I reading it now, and enjoying it. I did skim through the beginning about the thieves. ?
I love books about the book business and haven’t enjoyed a good one since the Dunning series and the Storied Life of A.J. Fikry.
I thought it was really good. One of his best – reminded me of some of his early, stronger stories.
Haven’t read it yet. Been reading so many other books
I was disappointed. Felt that Grisham started the book and someone else finished it. Did not like the ending either. First Grisham book I have not loved.
Loved most of his other books. This one was meh.
I stopped reading grisham with his time to kill book, perhaps time to reconsider his work again,
You have to keep in mind that his plots are great, bt the details in grammar, syntax, and editing are not.
That was his first book….
oh! It was the last jg book my dad gave me, i started with pelican brief, then the firm, i got hooked, so i continued hoarding his books, a painted house was his book where i forced myself to finish, hoping that i will like it somehow, i didn’t. Once i started his runaway jury but unfortunately watched it instead and i lost my interest in the book… im wondering how did his the brethren fared in the market? I din’t liked it…
The first was the best in my opinion.
The pelican brief was my favorite…
It’s on my tbr list. Hope I can get to it soon.
Very interesting book, and personally, I liked the ending!
Enjoyed the book selling, collecting rare manuscripts parts, but didn’t find any of the characters likable except the dead grandmother. They asked him for a “beach read” and he gave them one without his usual commitment to master storytelling. IMO
I didn’t like it – the plot had a lot of potential but the ending was predictable. The main character was a bit of an airhead: too impressionable in my opinion. The story could have been developed a bit more since it seemed implied that the grandmother might have met with foul play. That would have made a far more interesting story. I like John Grisham’s earlier novels as I felt they were much better written.
I liked it because of the book selling aspect, but I thought his other books were better. I also was thinking the grandmother would somehow be involved, and that never materialized.
I enjoyed it. The early books were his best ones, in my opinion. I did not like the one prior to this one with the sleazy attorney. I enjoyed the book theme.
