Just finished 11/22/63 – my first Stephen King book ever – and absolutely loved it. Can anybody recommend others by King that are this good? I don’t want horror or tradition sci-fi. Thanks!

The Stand (make sure you read the unabridged version – should be around 1100 pgs)

Thanks – if it’s as good as 11/22 I will want it to be long!

Elizabeth

For sure… It builds the world so it needs the length.

I like 11/22 because it wasn’t so fantastical – just enough to make it really interesting!

I was an English teacher for many years and I love literature, but I admit I was a Stephen King snob. I am not a huge fan of horror. I then read 11-22-63–WOW! It is one of the very best books I have ever read. THE DOME was okay–glad I read it. I just finished OUTSIDER and really, I think it was creepy. <3

Both of these are incredible movies, but I haven’t read the books. <3

You should!! The Shawshank Redemption is actually a novella – so it’s a pretty quick read but so good! And The Green Mile – well, it’s just wonderful!

This has nothing to do with books, but I have to tell you that 1, my daughter’s name is Annabelle and 2, I work on the Dorothea Dix campus (DHHS) off of Western Blvd. What a small world!

Wow – it is a small world! There aren’t too many of us Annabelles out there!

Annabelle Vaughan Myers that’s why we chose that name. My whole life I’ve been in class or work with at least one other Jennifer. We wanted her to have a less common name. ? Plus it’s a beautiful name!

The Stand is my favorite. I wouldn’t strictly classify it as horror or sci-fi. It’s more post apocalyptic

I loved the blending of true history and King’s fantasized history. A wonderful story all the way around. Full of history, mystery, intrigue, love, romance and suspense. I’d love to read it again soon. It’s my favorite King book for sure. Under The Dome is another great King book.
