On my 13th. I hope that it’s a lucky one. Actually it’s keeping me awake at night as I can’t put it down! Letters to the Pianist by S.D Mayes and it’s only 99p on Kindle (U.K) currently.
As its said its the journey that matters not the destination, similarly its the content of the book we read matters not the number of books we read 😛 😉
First 2weeks of january finished 2books, but after that has not finish even 1 and still struggling to finish Nudge by Thaler and The World is flat by Friedman.
Is the number that important? We need to ask ourselves. As a person deeply grounded in the learning process i think numbers don’t matter. Quality not quantity matters more…
I agree in part because when my kids were young, and I was working full-time, I read “maybe” one book for years. I’m proud that in 2017 I read five books.
It’s always good to set goals. This year I hope to read seven books in 2018
21, but I was sick for awhile, so bad that I couldn’t open my eyes it hurt so much. Disgusting! If I’m going to be sick, at least let me be able to read!!!!! (I’m retired, so I have lots of time for reading.)
Nobody is better than the others. It’s just fun to see how people who are in different situations read. Whether you’ve read 1 or 20 is impressive because at least people are reading and enjoying what they are reading.
how many books?? psh…. what size are they? how many pages?? how large is the print?? is it a light idiot romance or some heavy Russian tomb?? you act like a book is a standard sized thing and that the number matters in some way
then why even ask? I see these ludicrous posts all the time here, alongside the “how many books do you plan to read this year” posts. it’s inane and annoying
It’s not my cup of tea either but other people really enjoy it so, whatever, I just don’t usually participate in the conversation. Partly because I don’t keep track so I have no answer. But as someone who does occasionally get excited by data, I do think adding in additional metrics besides number of books would be much more interesting. I have friends who track this in massive spreadsheets of pages read, genre, author, you name it. If it can be tracked, they track it. And it’s fun to look at with them.
Some people just want a brief moment to brag, and/or be inspired by, how much they and others are reading. It’s fine. There are things that I like that other people find annoying/stupid and I appreciate when they let me have my moments of fun with it so I try to do the same for other people.
My personal challenge is to read at least one classic per month this year. Last month I read the Invisible Man and this month I’m working on Robinson Caruso.
I am not a very big reader but wanting to change that this year, I’m over halfway through A Gentleman in Moscow which I read on my lunch break at work and over half way through The Muse my evening read ?
5 or 6. My goal is 35.
Ive read 6 just for january and now Im in a reading slump so that sucks. But Im still trying my best to continue.?

Kristina Nowell I realize they may not be for everyone, but they have certainly allowed me to take in far more books than I could physically read.

I read all five books in the asoiaf series in three days even I had to admit it was a problem
Not really but I have been known to miss a few meals and not sleep for a couple of days when I get a really good book

why is this even a question?

The number doesn’t matter at all. And 1 huge book or 20 picture books doesn’t matter either. It was just a curiosity question.
then why even ask? I see these ludicrous posts all the time here, alongside the “how many books do you plan to read this year” posts. it’s inane and annoying
@Summer so, you found this post fun? seriously?
Yes!
It’s not my cup of tea either but other people really enjoy it so, whatever, I just don’t usually participate in the conversation. Partly because I don’t keep track so I have no answer.
