Just curious, how long of a break do you guys take between books? Do take a few days to reset the brain or just roll straight into a new novel?

Sometimes no break at all, but usually a few hours. Up to one day, unless the book gave me a horrible hangover haha

No break for me. I either start a new book immediately after finishing one or if it’s late at night, the next day.

Dear Damon don’t be mistaken. Science proofs that our Mind/brain rests and relaxes when we are reading or have something to comprehend. So as a brother i advise you not to take any break at least for the sake of your mind. Thank You!

I just keep rolling along. There are so many books and not enough time.

i usually will take a short break. i read at night after work, so i’ll usually start my next book the next day. Unless the ending was really good and I’m absorbed, then i have to at least read the first few chapters of my next one.

No break unless I cannot find a book but otherwise I am in a new book as soon as I finish one

Depends on the day. Sometimes a day or two. Sometimes up to a week because I’ve other things to do. But usually I’ll change genres before a big break between readings (if doing a lot of fantasy go realistic, if young adult go to a younger read….)

Roll straight in the next day!? (My favorite is to have an entire series to binge read, in which case I wait about thirty seconds)

I’m usually so excited to start a new book that I get right into it.

To answer my own question, I’ve found that I have to let my brain reset which usually takes a day or two depending on how busy I am. If I go straight into a new book my concentration seems to wane slightly and I’m more likely to lose interest in the new book or I’ll just find it hard to read more than a page in a day.

I’m usually reading g 3 books at a time, so I just keep on with the ones I’m reading, and then add one extra – right away, or with in a day or two.

Depends on whether or not that book gave me a hangover or if it’s the next book in the series

I don’t take much time between books. I might roll the story around in my head to make sure I got all the important points of the last book I read.

Depends on the book. Sometimes, I need time to heal (read “stop ugly crying”). Sometimes I’m pissed!! But mostly I just roll into the next one.

Normally after reading a book I write my review, edit and publish it. Then I go to Goodreads and YouTube and read/watch some other reviews of the book. And then I pick a new book to read.

I usually keep going into the next book– maybe 24 hours between. If I’m in a slump, I’ll reread one of my favorites

No longer than a day, and probably just a few hours. If I found the one I just finished to be spectacular and it’s not in a series, I take a day to reset.

I like to take a day or two off. Sometimes though, when I’m really in a reading mood I just jump right on to the next. It really depends on the book I have finished reading.. wether it has left me with a lot of thoughts ?

I’m almost always reading two at once (one physical, one on my phone) so this doesn’t happen.
