Absolutely my favorite all time author. Has been since I was 17 (thanks to my lovely, beautiful grandma). But I also have my Ma in love with him too now! And I always feel he has something for anyone. But since we are on the man, what is everyone’s favorite book/series or the first book you were introduced by James that got you hooked?

0
Reply
Betty

Uh, no, not any more. I’m not convinced he actually writes any more, but just puts his stamp of approval on them.

Mr Patterson’s generosity is overlooked and under appreciated. He donated millions to indie bookstores, directly to indie bookstore employees, libraries and college student scholarships for textbooks.

Used to like him, but got turned off for some reason. I think it may be the breakneck speed at which his stories go. I like a story that lets me slow down and enjoy the ride, to continue the driving metaphor lol

I actually think I prefer John Grisham. But I have OD’d on John Grisham after reading almost every single book he put out… I don’t want to read them anymore because so many of the characters seem exactly the same. That’s one of the risks you run when you read everything the same author puts out. Everything becomes sort of a formula after a while.

What it all boils down to is your own personal taste and which authors speak to you. If Patterson speaks to you, and reading his books makes you happy… Then yes… He is amazing.

I do have to admire any author who is prolific and successful. It’s a lot more than I can say about myself LOL. I’m just a consumer not a creator… Anyone who creates and makes many people happy with their creation and is able to make a living doing it is amazing to me. So I take back my earlier comment.

The lawyer that I ADMIRE THE MOST out of ALL THE LAWYERS THROUGH THE TRUMP FIASCO IS THE SPECIAL PROSECUTOR, MULLER. I want to Deal with people and help them within the LEGAL FIELD/ PROSECUTOR. WHATEVER INTERESTS ME

0
Christina

Yes I keep up with the news. I hope Mueller nails his a**. Pardon my French. As you can see I am NOT a Trump supporter AT ALL.

1

He does not write any of his adult fiction books, so I would have to disagree with you there. I will say though that he is a powerful force in the children’s literacy fight, and has helped many authors get their starts, so he has been great for the industry.

1

try reading his YA BOOKS. I THINK HE IS TERRIFIC CO-AUTHOR. HIS CHILDREN ARE GREAT AND SO is his YA BOOKS. I DON’T CARE IF HE DOESN’T WRITE HIS OWN BOOKS.

0

@Janet I have read several of his early books, some he wrote and some that were written in his name, and thought they were good, but not great.

1
Janet

I have to admit, as a 1st person author – his Maximum Ride series is unforgettable. I’ve never read a character with the same strong, prominent personality as Max. I’ve never forgotten her, or how she’d poke the reader and go “HEY YOU, YES, YOU!!!” and it really grabbed me as a kid. It got me really into reading.

Meg Cabot does that very well too, but not quite the same.
