He has many good books. You could also try one of his collections of short stories. He also wrote some books under the name Richard Bachman. One is Thinner.

Rage,The long Walk, Roadwork,The Running man, and Stand by Me, are also Bachman books.

Maybe a book of short stories so you can really get a feel for his writing style

I own Under the Dome, but have never gotten through it because it’s a such a big book. I’ve read Carrie, though. A bit predictable, but nonetheless worth the read.

Carrie, which was his debut novel. My personal favorite though is The Long Walk… because it’s so unlike the usual horor/thriller genre he’s known for. And because it’s an interesting, non utopian piece of dystiopian literature with an alternative history of the world thrown in for a good measure. (Basically kind of like The Hunger Games without any love triangles and soooo much better)
