Do you have to read this series in order to continue a storyline or are they stand alone novels with just the same lead character? I don’t want to read them out of order lol

Murder house was pretty good, though I thought the main character was a bit of a sook given they were meant to be a cop. Otherwise Alex Cross series.

I’ve only ever read Alex Cross and those were good. I don’t think he is the best writer ever but he has really entertaining novels and they are easy to get through. I imagine one of the appeals of his novels is that they are quick entertaining reads. So, if you are someone with a busy schedule these novels are unlikely to bog you down. Definitely worth trying but I understand why there are people that don’t like him.

I love his writing. It flows. He keeps you guessing. No character is sacred. Anyone can get bumped off. I also love the short chapters for when I’m on the go.

In one of his books, there was a scene about a little boy being raped. Still can’t get it out of my mind, and I refuse to pick up anything else by him. I don’t even remember what book it was.

If you like books written by a team of writers and then have his name stamped on them, go ahead. He rarely writes his own books anymore. He is just paid to let the publishers use his name.

Yes, I agree. His newer books are still good, just more generic and the older ones are better (to me).

I absolutely love him! His older books are better imo. As multiple people said, The Quickie was excellent!

Women’s Murder Club series. They are great! You do have to read them in order and there are 16 books. I am behind by the last 2 books.

Honeymoon. Everyone in my office read it, men and women, and all of us read it within 3 days’ time. Some of us were reading it while stirring things we were cooking on the stove!

I like his older ones best. Now he is combining with other authors. His books are fast-moving action/murder mysteries, with great cop heroes. Chapters are short, and you keep reading-you can finish in one or two days. He gives psychological insight into the criminal mind.

Fairly good – he often cowrites with unknown authors. Easy quick enjoyable reads.

That’s what I like, he is an easy read. Short chapters which for whatever reason makes a better read for me☺The Women’s Murder Club books are pretty good, although I think they are up to 17 or 18 in the series?

Many of his books are co-written with an aspiring novelist; I really appreciate his willingness to allow his name to be allied with a novice. And after these books are published, they can be listed on the associate’s resume.

I like just about everything I’ve read by James Patterson . The Women’s Murder Club series and the Michael Bennett series are probably my 2 favorite series by him . Alex Cross series is good , too. One of my all time favorite books by him is Suzanne’s Diary for Nicholas . There’s no doubt that you will find many books by him that you will enjoy .

I’ve been avoiding him like the plague, mainly because I have a bit of a ‘series obsession’ meaning I struggle to leave a series until I’ve read them all. With the amount he’s written I may never get to another author in my lifetime ?

His early writing was great but some of his collaborations I found aren’t as good. His Women’s Murder Club is a fantastic series but I did find book 15 a little disappointing at the end. I would recommend that you read the postcard killers, that was a great book which I read in two days, I was off work with a bad back at the time so I had time on my hands.

I’m a librarian. He’s very popular in our little library. I used to read the Alex Cross series but got tired of them. It annoys me that he has a book coming out every month. They have 3 page chapters, you can easily read one in a day. I think that is part of his appeal. They are entertaing but no real substance, forgettable the day after you have read it and very few people want to tackle a 400 or 500 page book anymore. Just my opinion. Lots of readers love him.

If you’re looking for great mysteries, try William Kent Kruger’s “Cork” series. I have had 2 or 3 people reading the series at once and complaining that people are not reading them fast enough

I enjoy James Patterson. He writes a few different genres, too. Zoo is one of my favorites. I think I liked the graphic novel version a little better, though. (The novel, graphic novel, and TV show are all just slightly different.)

Try the Alex Cross series. I enjoy that, as well.
