@Lopa exactly how I felt. It seemed as though it would never end. I’m one of those who forces myself to finish a book even if I don’t like it but I almost gave up halfway through. We are in the minority though. So many people love it. To each his own!
I did not hate it but it’s in my top five did not like, will never ever read again. I read the whole book even though I should have given up and saved those hours of my life.

While I liked the book, there is a almost a shift in genres between the first and second halves…I preferred the first half.

I liked it a lot until I read one of her earlier works: The Secret History. It was tops. Still can’t get it out of my mind.
I guess I didn’t stay long enough….I quit.
