-Shannon hales Book of a Thousand Days is fantastic.
-Kate Forsyth has written a beautiful book called The Wild girl which is about a girl who knew the brothers grimm and even ended up marrying one of them… her story though is quite sad and tragic.
-Juliet marillier does a great retelling of beauty and the beast her book is called Hearts Blood. Another of her is Daughter of the Forest my all time favorite.

If your looking for a laugh the retelling in these are hysterical. Overly politically correct fairy tales ???

I’m currently reading Alice by Christina Henry which is a retelling of Alice In wonderland after she’s gone down the rabbit hole. It’s pretty good so far, very nitty gritty and dark.

Try Angela Carter. She has a collection of short stories that are fairy tales rewritten. I think it’s called Burning Your Boats…

I recently read and really enjoyed Hunted by Meagan Spooner. It’s a Beauty and the Beast retelling.

Robin McKinley has done a few. I read The Door in the Hedge a couple years ago and have been meaning to read more.

A Tale Dark and Grimm was really good too, esp for a YA series. It’s by Adam Gidwitz.

Not a fairy tale retelling, but a children’s book fantasy classic retelling: “Tiger Lily” by Jodi Lynn Anderson(retelling of “Peter Pan”, of course).

Once Upon Now.

It’s a collection of short stories written by various artists. These stories were the winners in a contest, so some good tales.

I’m retelling Tristan and Isolde currently. “Tristan and Isolde Reloaded”, romantic suspense involving the pharmaceutical industry and human experimentation. It’s a work in progress though, and I upload weekly on my site. Got 6 chapters so far.

Peas and Princesses by Aleese Hughes. It’s quick and fun, but definitely a little dark. I like that type of thing, though. I think her second book is supposed to come out soon, too. I read it through Kindle Unlimited. I think she also sells other editions on Amazon.
