There’s my casual book, my current reread/favorite just in case I need a pick me up, there’s my work book, and usually a book I’m seriously tearing through. Any of the above can turn into the last at any given minute without warning though.

The most I’ve had is 8 ???‍♀️ at the time I was very moody with my books lol and I finally got it down to 3 ?

Fay

I usually have about 8 going at the same time. I used to read one per day then change. Now I focus on 1 per week then change and cycle back around if not finished. I finish everything I start but this way I read something fresh every week. Helps to not get too bored with a slow moving book

Amanda Mocny, why would you care what “non-reader” friends have to say about reading? They are obviously unqualified to make any judgements about it. I say read as many books at a time as you like (I am a reader, so you can trust me!)

0
Jill

Don’t you love when someone who doesn’t know about a topic starts giving you advise on it?

1
Fay

@Jill yes…especially when non-diabetics tell diabetics how they should eat. “Should you be eating that ?” Go away.. grr

Even if it’s not, I mean normal is just an appliance setting anyways, and who wants to be that right? #liveyourlife #youbeyou

I can’t pay attention to that many at once. I’m a one-book-at-a-time kind of guy.

For my fiction reading I usually try and concentrate on one book at a time, but I do have one in the car for when I get stuck somewhere for a few minutes to read. I also have a fiction audio book that I use to relax at bedtime. I can listen to the same book, if I like it, over and over because I miss lot lol. I may add in biographies, current events, science etc at the same time. I remember my sister when we were growing up used to have a stack of books at her side and rotate through them. So if it works for you then I guess that’s normal and for some people reading one book a year is normal–nobody here i’m guessing. Short stories like Grimm’s or Hans Christen Anderson, or poetry I would add to my current books. Enjoy your readings.

I have never been able to read more than one novel at a time….maybe a book of poetry/short stories and a novel.. My memory isn’t what it used to be. haha

I find three as many as I can manage comfortably. one for each of my moods or travelling situation… I present a radio program and also have a book review column, so I need to keep up with a wide range of books!
