Circling the sun by Paula McLain. A biographical novel about the life of Beryl Markham in colonial Africa and how she became a pioneering aviator.

@Jane amazing book!

Jane

@Lauren have you read Out of Africa by Karen Blixen or The flame trees of Thika by Elspeth Huxley?
These are both memoirs the former of an adult and the latter of a child in colonial Kenya at the same time and within the same social set as Beryl Markham. Some of the characters e.g. Denis Finch Hatton and Karen Blixen appear in all.of the books.

Who is the author of To Race the Wind please @Karen?

Karen

@MaryAnne , harold krents. He lost his sight at a very young age, but his family treated him as if he did not have a disability. He went to Harvard (if I’m remembering correctly) and he became a lawyer. He was a pretty amazing person and his story is interesting, inspirational and funny
