Sorry to bother you. Have you read A Break With Charity A Story About the Salem Witch Trials by Ann Rinaldi. I just saw it on my shelf. It is very good. I got to meet the author when I was in HS. She did a signing at a Salem bookstore and my parents said we could go.
@Robin bother?? Hardly! No I haven’t read it, I actually had to go check my Salem books….sadly not there. Which bookstore was it? Was it Derby Street Books?
I’m not sure. It was 1993-1994 when we went. I remember the bookstore was messy. Cause it stressed me out. There’s two other books that are really good. The Devil In Masachusetts by Marion L Starkey and Salem Possessed by Paul Boyer and Stephen Nissenbaum. Both are great. I did a paper in HS on the trials so I had/have a ton of books on it.
@Robin it was definitely Derby Street Books lol. I loved that store! I posted a few pics on here recently, I’ll look for the post and tag you. It closed a few years ago and a new shop opened called Wicked Good Books (I’ll tag u on that too). I don’t have The Devil in Massachusetts but I do have Salem Possessed; I also have In The Devil’s Snare by Mary Beth Norton; The Witches by Stacy Schiff and The Six Women of Salem by Marilynne K. Roach, who is also local there. Shirley Jackson wrote a kids book about it which I have too. A really fun one also is J.W. Ocker’s A Season With the Witch (I recommended to Evan too). He lived in Salem recently during October and then wrote a book about all his experiences, not really the history, but just all the goings-on and what brought it all. For anyone ever going to Salem they should definitely read it and take with them! It’s so much fun! I can’t wait till August now when I go again! ? (I’ve already done the October in Salem thing lol)
I’ve been to Wicked Goid Books. I was just there actually when my hubs ran the Boston Marathon. We went to Salem for the day. I went in October and it was stressful for me. I tag along with Evan in July when he goes. I finished my Best Friends Exorcism last night. I couldn’t stop reading it, but now I am operating on 1 hour sleep. It was so good!
we did Salem in October for my daughter’s birthday one year, it was enough. Now we go at end of summer. Grady Hendrix also has an awesome NF book called Paperbacks from Hell ??
I’m reading the alchemy of forever by avery Williams .a
Here’s what I’m reading this weekend
The one by John Marrs
I loved this book!
I stole it from Evan Ethan with another book called Hex.
@Robin Hex is another favorite ??
Have you read I,Tibuta, Black Witch of Salem. You might like it.
I really liked both of those
Such a fab read! ~ both books ?
@Robin I haven’t but adding to my list! Thanks ?
@Paula let me look through my books if I still have it. If I do I’ll get it to you. I’ll start looking on Monday when the kids are at school.
@Robin that’s so awesome! But only if you’ve read it and don’t want it back….I tend to collect Salem anything ❤️
I read it and I never want my books back. I have certain books that are mine forever, but others I give away or sell at HPB.
Just takes me time to find stuff. I have 9 kids and a very needy dog.
@Robin definitely no hurry ❤️
