Guess im all alone then.

Haha there’s things about his character in book one that are warning signs to later behavior (he big time ignores advice or other peoples opinions on what they want to do, and lays around seducing human women while kids are dying instead of doing literally anything at all) that makes him the biggest ass ever. Without having read the last two books, you’ll never get it everyone’s hatred.

I don’t hate Tamlin. ?

Sorry I’ve fallen in love with Rhys

Cause rhys understands complicated ideas like “choice” and “i need to be free” and “I’m leaving. Don’t come looking for me”

Aubrey

I understand him in a way BUT I still didn’t like him through the first book. He was too … “it’s my way only ” with feyre . He basically acted like she is only there to obey him and be popping out kids. I felt that feyre was weak in a way .

YEEEEESSSSS!

Julie

I hated him in book one. Like literally at the end I was like HE DID NOTHING TO STOP THIS! HE’S THE WORST!

3
Aubrey

Yeah. He wants to be the protector and the big man (fae) that must be obeyed . Yet he failed at protecting Feyre. The “enemy” did it .

0
Julie

Right. You wanna protect people, don’t lay around seducing women in fields while children die at the hands of a tyrant. And learn you can’t decide for people. Just help them with what they choose to keep them safe as best you can

0
Aubrey

True true . I’m reading ACOWAR right now . It’s taking me so long because I don’t want to finish lol

0
Julie

Haha that book may have broken me. Acomaf is still my favorite. Oh Velaris

0
Amanda

@Julie I agree 100%, but I also understood that he didn’t believe the letter, because he thought she was under some mind control. Which wasn’t true of course, but is made clear in the books another fae can do it so he had a right to not believe. I don’t agree and I think if he had paid attention to her suffering he would have known the letter was real.

0
Julie

Totally. He spends way too long ignoring her wasting away and not giving a damn. She even said you’re killing me by locking me up and he didn’t listen at all

0
Aubrey

I love the romance in the other books but mainly I love how bad ass feyre becomes

Totally love her character transformation.

I have no real opinion… I’m still trying to push through book 1. Lol Honestly, I don’t care for Feyre either. Lucian is cool though. I like him. He is why I’m reading this book. Lol

Book one is honestly kind of terrible

1
Julie

Feyre undergoes serious character growth in book two.

1
Casia

That’s good to hear. I’m hoping that once I finish this one, I might be able to read the second.

0
Julie

It’s amazing what happens when a girl realizes that falling for the first guy to truly be nice to her and compliment her might be settling

0
Amanda

It took me awhile to get into the first book, but I had heard everyone loved it and kept going. Then I couldn’t put it down.

0
Casia

I’m at the fire night celebration. Not picking up yet. This is my third attempt at this book and it will be my last. I’m trying to fight to the end

0
Julie

Fire night introduces my second favorite person in the whole world

1
Cat

It really took me like 3/4 of the book to get into the world. Once you get to major change of scenery things start to pick up and then it’s full steam ahead.

I have mixed emotions. I mean, tamlin wasn’t bad at first…some women would have adored how he treated her, but Feyre is a different kind of women. Tamlin without a doubt loves Feyre. He definitely messes up though, and its kinda unforgivable…but it wasn’t his intention. I feel sorry for tam, I don’t hate him

I loved Tamlin in ACOTAR! But I hated him in ACOMAF! I haven’t read ACOWAR yet.

I know ??? i just love Feyre and Tam and Lucien all chilling in the spring court. I dunno if i can change

0
Kayla

It gets better though
Like imagine how much you like them times a million and that’s the other 2 books! There’s better people to hang with!

0
Amanda

I was the same with the first book, but I just finished book two and it’s definitely worth continuing

0
Kayla

I’m trying to finish the 3rd this week

0
Mackenzie

The second book is sooo good

1
Stephanie

We also have Rhys’s Pieces lmao

1
Marie

I didn’t like tamlin even in the first book. I tried to be understanding of his behavior as it was supposed to be a beauty and the beast retelling so I read the book with that story in mind… but in the end tamlin is and stays a character that has some serious issues and I can’t stand him

1
Reply
Julie

I hated him from book one. A good beauty and the beast retelling has the beast changing, not belle. And acotar has feyre become completely passive til her sister pushes her to go back

1
Ashley

I’m very happy with how things were left off in ACOWAR, tbh.

I didn’t hate Tamlin in the first book but I definitely loved Lucien and even Rhys more. By the second book I was like “oh no, you didn’t!” And I wanted him destroyed ? but by the end of the third book I kinda forgave him but I will never love him. He kinda makes me sad. Plus I have too many other awesome fae males to love

I did….
But my opinion has changed.

I have read all three and I don’t hate Tamlin. He is Tamlin, a protector, at all costs and due to what his inaction caused in the past, he is overprotective. He was what Feyre needed in the first book, but as in real life, people grow and change and their needs and wants change. You can love Tamlin and still love the rest of the story.

Christy

THIS! I never saw Tamlin as a villain, ever.

0
Dawn

He wasn’t. His actions were brought on by love and his intrinsic need to protect those he loves due to all he lost. She needed that type of love in the first book but he was no longer what she needed as her story progressed. I am all about some Rhysand, I was since his first appearance in the story, but, I’ve always pictured Tamlin as Chris Hemsworth…and I can’t hate that! ?

1
Christy

Exactly! The only thing I really don’t forgive him for is lying to Feyre about his role in the deaths of Rhys’s family. There was no real excuse for that. He was the main reason his relationship w Rhys fell apart and he never took ownership of that

0
Christy

I’m genuinely curious as to your logic. Do you know what happens in the last 2 books?

Michele

So far I’ve only read the 1st book. I love Tamlin and cannot stand Rhys. Maybe that will change after reading the last 2 books. ? Depends on what happens.

I love the open minded approach! It’s hard to read a series that’s so well loved and be surrounded by spoilers, especially when a character you love seems to be widely despised. I think it’s awesome you’re willing to see it through regardless 🙂

1
Michele

It has happened many times before. I read a series of books and first book I’m totally in love with one character and by end of the series, I hate them. ?

0
Christy

@Michele and honestly I don’t hate Tamlin, he makes some bad choices but I think by the end of the series you’ll understand why he made the choices he did

1
Michele

Happened when I read the Hunger Games. I liked Gale at the beginning, but by the time I was done with all the books, I loved Peeta even more.

2
Christy

@Michele SAAAAME!!!

0
Michele

And I was like Gale needs to die… ??

1
Christy

@Michele well I didn’t hate him that much but I totally understood why Katniss couldn’t stand to look at him ?

1
Julia

I love him. I haven’t read the last two either.

I get it. It’s YA and it almost always feels like a betrayal when the love interest shifts.
But I just don’t understand the refusal to see what happens next. People change and grow, as should book characters.
You may still make it through and love him. You may finally understand the way the characters grow and change.

I’m happy with how all that turned out in the end(ACOWAR), so glad for that.

I tried to read them. Really I did. But after Tamlin and Feyre start falling for each other, it just happened too fast, and lost interest.

I adore Tamlin! I never hated him. Those who still hate him, hasn’t read the last book ?

1

Yeah I have. He did the bare minimum of human compassion and had to be forced into it at that.

1
Oceann

I read the last book, and I’m still not a fan?

0
Leah

I liked him in the beginning of course! And still hold a place for him, but I just love love Rhys. Even if you don’t really want to finish the other books, you really should, the story just gets better and better!!
